Limited Run Luke ROTJ V2 lightsaber- based on the new info from SWCA (UPDATE PG 37)

Re: Luke ROTJ V2 lightsaber- based on the new info from SWCA (UPDATE PG 12)

I was just thinking I'd weather this painfully slowly with cocktail sticks as I have in the past but damn a Stencil sounds like a really smart idea :lol

Re: Luke ROTJ V2 lightsaber- based on the new info from SWCA (UPDATE PG 12)

I would be down for a stencil as well!

I actually tried doing this on my parks arc-wave.

Let's just say I re did it using a different method.

The CG renders on the first post of this thread should give you some idea of what an idealized AFBB version of this saber could look like.

Just wondering how one should go about getting the saber anodized, if one wants to pursue an AFBB build….

I would definitely be interested in a stencil as well! :)

For anodizing, the best bet would be to try to contact a local machine shop. I used to work at a manufacturer that had a small machine shop in the back and we (they, not me) would anodize some sheet metal for chassis. They never did anything dark, black, or atypical in color, and once done being dipped, they were hung up to dry which also left a darker drip mark.

If anyone is going for a Luke RotJ Hero with this, someone had a custom saber build thread here last week that had that awesome golden/copper tone on the neck. He said he got the spray paint at O'Reilly or some other auto parts store.

Stencil, most definitely

I, also, hope the emitters (which are being shipped) are packed better and we can avoid making Dan go back again. Their reaction put a bad taste in my mouth, especially when their work is stellar.

I never asked before how the emitters were going to be attached, guess we'll see soon! :)

I never really looked into anodization because I've never really liked the end result, but I got curious. As it turns out anodizing at home is rather easy once you sort out a supply of acid and other chemicals.

Ok sounds like enough of you might want to get a set of stencils. I'll start working on them from the reference material and then will setup an interest thread. The more slots I fill the cheaper they'll be for the initial run, but I should be able to keep it as an unlimited and just cut out more as people need them. Since we're getting pretty close to having these in-hand I might wait to mail out the final versions until I have my v2 in hand and can verify everything lines up correctly. Or if I can get some exact measurements I might be able to send them out before hand.

Yeah, I'd be interested in a stencil too!

Let me know what measurements you need?

is this supposed to be a static prop or an fx saber?

It's supposed to be modeled after the actual prop itself.

You can check out the first page of this interest thread and the proper V2 thread here (where we are now starts at page 25/26 onward) for more info.
