lost boys MARKO jacket replica!

I'm in the very early process of starting this jacket. It's hard to find hero tapestries. Do you guys think just getting some rug printed with all the needed designs would work? Lol I want it to look nice but also not be too costly.

I got some cool close-ups of Paul's jacket for anyone who might be interested in the nitty-gritty details. This is the one he wore for the bathtub scene and I'm pretty sure the one he wore in the still-shot pictures.

Hey all. I've been recently looking into Marko's jacket, I am not artistic, I was wondering potentially how much a commission would be for a jacket. Thanks in advance!

So I've been trying to replicate Paul's jacket as accurately as possible and with the help of LostNSantaCarla have been able to identify some parts that until now we're not known.
The "correct" shape batwing pulls seem to be not very common. There are ones similar out there, but the specific size and shape of the ones on Paul's coat are some what different. That being said I have commissioned a fabrication shop to laser cut them out of 1/16" solid brass. They're very shiny and will require weathering. I also have the correct rare round drawer pulls too. I have two extra sets that includes 2 batwings and 1 round pull. If anyone is interested personal message me. I'm also getting the correct chain clips and have extras of those too.
Fun fact, the guy who made the batwing pulls has also manufactured items for Hollywood movies such as Superman, Ironman, Chain Reaction with Morgan Freeman and Keanu Reeves. He made the flying apparatus for Superman and Ironman. I was at his shop and his lobby has a bunch of displays of the items he made that were used in movies. Pretty cool I thought.

Nobody is doing that unfortunately. The amount of time that goes into it makes it not a profitable job. There's a few people here that own replicas they have made and might consider selling them, but I just want to warn you it may be in the thousands for a accurate replica. The materials alone are around $600-700 and that's using replica pieces. Then finding the three main tapestries takes months, and sometimes years. Then sewing the jacket is another 40+ hours. Be very careful if someone is offering you one, they are very rare, and very expensive for a good one.

I was kind of cautious of this as well. I was seeing where previous sources on here had materials even at $500 dollars. Do you think its possible for a complete novice to attempt this? I wouldn't care to purchase from someone either but my intent is to wear so it would also have to fit me which may be a tall task. Thank you for responding! I saw someone on ETSY selling a set of 23 patches to get started. Would that be a good starting point or could you maybe message me a blueprint of the steps to follow? Thanks.

Yep, the lady on etsy's name is Sonya she's very nice. Her patches are pretty decent, you can actually find about 6+ of the actual real ones on etsy and ebay so you can have some real ones mixed in with the reproductions. Personally I'd try and find as many real ones first and then fill in the rest with the reproductions. There's a peacock on ebay right now that has a grey neck instead of the correct blue, but other than that it's pretty good. I'd start by collecting the three main tapestries and start collecting as many real patches as you can. To answer your question, yes you absolutely can do this project but your gonna spend at least $600 and probably a year+ putting everything together. Most of the information your looking for is on page 41 of this post. If you need anymore help, personal message me so we don't swamp the post with a conversation.

Took the first step and bought the jacket today. Its an XL to fit me because I want to wear it as well.

I posted previously that I was making a movie accurate Lost Boys Paul coat. I was fortunate enough to aquire several sets of the correct pulls and also located the correct clips.
Sean Clark the famous Podcaster/ YouTuber/ Movie Producer recently purchased the complete set of Lost Boys "movie used" jackets from The Prop Store. The Paul coat was missing most of the pieces and I had the honor of helping him replace some of the pieces. The correct pulls seem rather hard to find due to their age.

That's awesome! Yeah I was always a fan of the Lost Boys, but I hadn't watched it in probably 10 years. I saw it on 4k the other day and decided to buy it. Well after watching it I started going on YouTube and looking up videos about it and that is what caused me to notice the jacket when I saw them being bought from the movie. Long story short it led me here to start hunting down Marko's jacket.

Contrado is the company and the fabric is "chi-chi furnishings velour". Print at 20"×41". About $30View attachment 1448937

All so which parts would you recommend starting to sew first.so complicated
Find the correct three tapestries: leopard, matador, peacock. Look at ebay, etsy, poshmark, Facebook marketplace. All the information is posted here already. Start from the end and read backwards. All the newest information is at the end. If you ask questions that have already been answered and posted many times, you're probably not going to get a response from people. Read, it's all here laid out for you. Literally! There's a peacock with a red background on ebay right now. The neck and head appears to be grey instead of the correct blue, but at least the sky is the correct red. If you have any more questions personal message me so we don't swamp the post with a conversation.

Hello all!
New member here. Like most of you, I've been a big Lost Boys Fan for decades and ever since I saw Marko's jacket in the movie, I wanted one just like it. in the late 1980's I dragged my Mom (a professional tailor with an embroidery shop at the time) all around SoCal looking for tapestries we could attach to my Levi's jacket to show off while I was in high school. This was in the days BEFORE digital cameras and internet so all we had to go by was a VHS copy of the movie I taped off of cable. So here's my jacket which is now almost 35 YEARS OLD NOW. It's obviously FAR from anything really resembling the original and we were way to neat about cutting out the fabric images and sewing them to the jacket. I wanted it to be wearable so I kept the pockets and buttons....

Fast forward to about 10 years ago, thanks to Google, Ebay and Etsy, I started accumulating the tapestries for making another more correct Marko jacket. Again, I want it to be wearable and I'm comfortable making mine RESEMBLE the movie jackets, but not copies. I plan to remove the buttons and pockets, but not the hems, just cover them. I plan to use biker patches that are in the same style as those of the movie jacket, but not exactly and not as many. I don't plan to use the squid lures either.
I have 2 of the Matador tapestries (mirror immages from the movie one) and since the Cleo is next to impossible to find, here's the best I got. Here's what I have so far at my parent's house in CA:

Obviously, my version of the "Cleo" is well....yeah, it's not the same...far from it. I might reach out to one of you guys to get help with this ordering a canvas print from Contrado.
Here's what I have here at my home in WA state:

Obviously, my "Snake Girl" is Venus (LOL!), but I always thought that the snake lady was kind of like a "sexied up" version of Botticelli's Birth of Venus. Yeah, the absence of the red background bugs me.
And yes, my Leopard/Cheetah is also the mirror image, so I'm thinking of whether I should put the Cheetah pieces on the left instead of the right....hmmm...
My first set of patches are here:

I hope I get some feedback/guidance/ideas from you folks here.
Thank you for whatever help/guidance you can offer!
