Looper Blunderbuss - Pics of Painted Slushcast Kit on pg. 18

Re: Looper Blunderbuss - Finished Pics on Pg. 12

Just wanted to put up a side by side shot of the original prop and what I ended up with. First off, my front endcap is a bit thicker than the original, but there was no way of avoiding that with my build technique. Other than that, my grip profile is off, as is the length of the gun, and I have to work on the coloring (but that'll be fixed after I make the final molds). All in all, I'm pretty happy with the end result, but I'm glad I designed the gun to make it easier to upgrade in the future.

Thanks for all the kind words, everyone!

I just discovered a pretty good technique for the coloring on the handle. Grab some instant coffee and rub it into the tape. The hockey tape really takes it well and the result is pretty convincing...and smells delicious.

Do you do it with dry coffee or do you make a sort of paste?

Hi Jonaas,

Great work but one quick question, shouldn't the slide be weathered too?

Re: Looper Blunderbuss - Finished Pics on Pg. 12

That's the stunt prop, looks like it was cast in black rubber and the paint on the slide portion has cracked off from a lot of use. On the hero piece, it does seem to be pretty shiny silver.

That's true, but I also have to do a small bit of weathering/detailing on the piece as seen here...but since the only way I feel I can do it to my liking is with acrylic paint, I'm saving that task for after molding (once again, thanks for the mold-saving tip, Harrison!).

Finally, here's the finished prototype at every angle:

Currently, everything has been secured with hot glue and wood dowels to ensure I can take it apart easily for molding. I have to be up at 3AM (!) in order to get to the shoot location on time, so I'm off to bed! I'll be PMing everyone in the First Run for their deposit when I get back home tomorrow night. Thanks, everyone!

Congrats Jonaas. It looks absolutely incredible.
Great luck on the shoot tomorrow.

Re: Looper Blunderbuss - Finished Prototype Gallery on pg. 13

Wow, it looks incredible. Awesome job! I'm thinking of finally breaking down and going to see Looper after work tonight.

Re: Looper Blunderbuss - Finished Prototype Gallery on pg. 13

God that looks amazing....I am a idiot for not getting in the run

Re: Looper Blunderbuss - Finished Prototype Gallery on pg. 13

Now the the shoot is finished, I can share that the blunderbuss was used for a CollegeHumor.com short. Apparently, it'll be done in a week or so and I'll link the vid here...but I must warn you: The film ISN'T safe-for-work ;)

So the blunderbuss escaped the shoot (almost) unscathed! Nothing major...I just have to resculpt the grip screw plugs (they'd fallen off since they were only hotglued on). I'll be requesting the First Run deposits very soon, so keep an eye on your PMs. I'm only going to give you 24 hours to respond to my requests, and if I don't receive your 50% payment via PayPal within that timeframe, you lose your spot and get bumped to the end of the Second Run.

Thanks, everyone! Time to sleep.

That's awesome! I love the CH videos! And your build inspired me to go and finally check out Looper... All I can say is, now I know why you took such a keen interest to this film.

Glad you liked it, dude! I've seen it six times and I still love it! As for the CollegeHumor bit, I don't wanna spoil it...all I can say is it answers a question that I'm sure most of us have wondered about Time Travel :)
