Licensed Pulse Rifle pre-order

Hearing nothing like this from them scares the crap out of me... Not even a change to their web page, which sort of looks like a high school project. For the chedder that was laid out I would have expected more from them, I hope their product is better then their communication.

Thanks for the update. Please don't rush at the expense of accuracy and quality. Please do provide more frequent updates here, by email, or on the HCG website. :)

Hi Guys,

No concrete updates on the Pulse Rifle ie. a confirmed ship date from the factory. We are still very hopeful of getting them in the first qtr of the year, but I cannot say that for sure yet.
The molds to produce the Aluminum shrouds are very time consuming, getting them exactly the same as the Hero we used for reference.
If we had made the shrouds from fiberglass, resin or plastic you could have had them last year....but you wouldn't want that.
Obviously we would like these to be completed and shipped asap as we have significant funds invested, BUT the last thing we want to do is rush it.

When we have something concrete you will be the first to know!

Incidentally the Alien bust, Lifesize Alien statues, Predator 2 helmets and Alien Chestbursters are all on their way to us & should be in our warehouse & shipping early February.

Are the any slots still available for purchase? I've been holding off since 3rd quarter last year because I wanted to make sure everything comes through as projected. If the full run has been spoken for already, I may order mine through PoL.

I believe if you check their website, you will find that the Green Pulse Rifle is sold out, but the Brown Bess is still availalbe.

no refund yet , left two voicemails , because heaven forbid they answer there phone , and two emails yesterday with zero responce

I wouldn't give up just yet. Aluminum casting is complex and pricey. Not many companies have the expertise. Here is one of them:

Either they went with a less-experienced caster or they have a good one, but the geometry, tolerances, finish, or fit still need tweaking. I'm not even close to freaking out. When you rush anything, you get what you pay for.

Keep in mind that NO ONE has ever done this before. Of the very very very few PRs out there with metal shrouds, they're all hand pounded aluminum (and one shroud machined from a solid block of aluminum!). It's gonna take some tweeking.

To be honest, I had forgotten about it until recently and I do have projects that could use the money ive spent on the PR but that being said..metal shroud PR ...i think its worth the wait :) Hopefully those that do want a refund get them quick though.

I finally had to cancel my order. But, I only did it because I'm out of work and need the money for things like food and rent. I have heard back from them and they said they are processing my refund, but since I paid it through Paypal, it will take a bit longer, which is a week so far.

I canceled my order way back in May of 09 and had no problem. I think now that it has been a year and people have spent $1,000 on a pre-order which is looking like its going to take another 6 months to get. I would want my money back to. Dont become Master Replicas.

Well... that's a bit of an exaggerated reaction this early.

We should have learned by now that our hobby seems to be plagued with delays, no matter who the manufacturer is. Remember the Sideshow 1:1 Hellboy Big Baby replica? Delayed for I-don't-know-how-many months.

It seems that almost every high-end replica gets delayed for whatever reason. Manufacturing small quantities in some low-cost countries (where the shortest way to the highest payment often regulates the priority of your project with your contractor) can be a real nightmare if you're unlucky. Just go back an read the stories posted here by various people involved with licensed replicas. Imagine, just as one example, if the contractor you've hired doesn't, after several months, deliver an acceptable product and you have to switch to another factory. It's happened several times and will probably always happen.

A 6-12 month delay is like a Coffee break in this hobby. I REALLY want my PR now too... but this delay isn't making me doubt that it's gonna happen.

I have a feeling the bottom is gonna drop out of this .:sick

Worrying over quality is one thing but if you're worried whether or not HCG will actually deliver on this then that ship is just a wee bit premature.

They've delivered on previous items.

In fact, their 1:1 scaled Giger Alien bust and 1:1 scaled Giger Alien figure are both shipping now with some people posting in-hand pics of them over on other boards.

I did NOT cancel my order because I'm worried about them not delivering. The ONLY reason I cancelled my order is because I'm out of work and need the money for other things, like food and rent. If it had been delivered on time, I would probably be trying to sell it on my own just to get some money. If I were still working, I would not have cancelled it.

That's BS. You should report that to your CC company.

Before you order it using 4 Pay or 6 Pay, they do tell you that if you cancel at certain points, that you will get charged certain amounts of money. So, if you go through with the order, you agree to this stipulation. I also used Paypal, so there is no one to report it too. Also, this is no different than other companies charging you a non-refundable deposit, such as eFX for the Tricorder. I just don't like how long it is taking them.

What's the point of using 4-Pay on a pre-order item that is several months away? Just to help "lock" the money you have so that it doesn't get spent on something else? I'm just curious.

With pre-orders that cost a lot I usually just place the order and start saving or make sure I have some other way to finance it when it starts shipping.

As far as the Pulse Rifle was concerned you either had to pay for it all at once or use the 4-Pay or 6-Pay. They do not give you the option of Ordering without paying for it. Even if you don't 4-Pay or 6-Pay, you still get hit with the charge to cancel. So, no matter which way you paid for it, if you want to cancel your order NOW, you are going to get hit with a charge. Which I have now received. Also, as I have already stated, I did NOT want to cancel it and the only reason I did was because I'm out of work and need the money. So, in a way, this saved the money for me for when I really needed it.
