Licensed Pulse Rifle pre-order

Ah, that explains it. Since I'm in Europe it was cheaper for me to order from Propstore and they're not taking payment until they ship.

As far as the Pulse Rifle was concerned you either had to pay for it all at once or use the 4-Pay or 6-Pay. They do not give you the option of Ordering without paying for it. Even if you don't 4-Pay or 6-Pay, you still get hit with the charge to cancel. So, no matter which way you paid for it, if you want to cancel your order NOW, you are going to get hit with a charge. Which I have now received. Also, as I have already stated, I did NOT want to cancel it and the only reason I did was because I'm out of work and need the money. So, in a way, this saved the money for me for when I really needed it.

What's the point of using 4-Pay on a pre-order item that is several months away? Just to help "lock" the money you have so that it doesn't get spent on something else? I'm just curious.

With pre-orders that cost a lot I usually just place the order and start saving or make sure I have some other way to finance it when it starts shipping.

For me it was because I couldn't afford to pay it all at once, and I didn't want to take the chance of the rifle selling out before I had time to save it all up.

They don't actually charge the card until the item ships so even though it isn't an "option", you technically are ordering without paying.

Thanks, I didn't know that. They did say if you paid by Credit Card and then cancelled your order, they would charge your Credit Card $100.00. I wondered why if they were refunding money to your Credit Card, they would still charge you for the refund, now I know what they meant.

This was the first line in my order confirmation.

Thank you for your order.
**Please note - Your credit card will not be charged until your order is ready to ship. This does not apply to customers using the 4pay payment plan.

I think I'm going to cancel. Quite honestly, I've lost so much interest in this item and the hobby that I just don't care about it anymore. Too bad considering this was my "Holy Grail" of props since probably high school.

This line makes me think you will regret cancelling your order.

Possibly. But my interest in this hobby has been waning for the last 4 years. In fact, I'm selling way more than buying at this point. Even if I keep my order, I imagine I'll just throw them on eBay within a month. If that's the case, I'd rather get out before taking a loss on them. :unsure

Canceled my order today so someone on the wait list should be happy. Funny thing is I couldn't find on my order page that I had paid $750.00 towards it. All the invoices say is not paid in full or not finished. You would think they would list the running total of what you paid so far. Good thing I have all my Paypal records.

Before you order it using 4 Pay or 6 Pay, they do tell you that if you cancel at certain points, that you will get charged certain amounts of money. So, if you go through with the order, you agree to this stipulation. I also used Paypal, so there is no one to report it too. Also, this is no different than other companies charging you a non-refundable deposit, such as eFX for the Tricorder. I just don't like how long it is taking them.

Yup, Sideshow has this policy on their flexpay orders.

Hearing nothing like this from them scares the crap out of me... Not even a change to their web page, which sort of looks like a high school project. For the chedder that was laid out I would have expected more from them, I hope their product is better then their communication.

I have been ordering props for a long time, including from Master Replicas since the beginning. I may have ordered from Icons, I can't remember haha. With that being said I am not worried in the slightest as far as this prop is concerned. This is just part of the business.

It took them about 1 week from the time I asked them to cancel it until I got the money in my Paypal account. I used the 6 Pay option and had paid $750.00 at the time I cancelled it and they charged me $100.00, so I only got back $650.00. If you did it the same way, then you will also get hit with the $100.00 charge for cancelling it.

Any positive news on this?

I sent them a message today and got this answer:

"Hi Joe,

Thank you for your email! At the moment the Pulse Rifles are still in
production. We do hope to have an updated date in the coming weeks.
Please keep your eyes and ears open and also feel free to drop us
another email later on."

So... an updated date in the coming weeks probably means that they will not be arriving until some time in Q2. China just had their New Year so most likely production slowed a bit. Hopefully we'll get 'em in April but who knows.

I pulled my two orders and got my Amex refunded. Can't wait anymore for these clowns. Spoke to someone with a demo unit. Parts falling off, LED screen is now dead, problems with the magazine locking. There are better Pulse Rifles to be had for a tag bit more cash.

Whoa. That's quite a report you're bringing up. I don't think we should start throwing accusations in quality until we have all the facts in, or at least till one of these suckers reviewed properly. Maybe the delay is caused by these said problems. If that's the case, why worry? HCG hasn't let me down yet, and when they do, they are pretty awesome in how they handle it. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt even if it takes till the 3rd quarter to get these babies.

As a small(ish) company, working with large Asian manufacturers is far from an easy task, especially with something like the Pulse Rifle. If they are having issues with quality control (not at all uncommon in low-wage countries/companies) then they are certainly not "clowns" for delaying release. They are, in fact, being responsible towards their customers by not releasing something crappy just to get it out the door.

Your also talking about a demo unit, which are NEVER of the same quality and finish as the final product.

We should just pull the lever on this 'supposed' quality issue. Nothing good or productive will come of something that we know is not the final product that is still being worked on. What matters is the final product, and if anything is wrong with that, there's no reason why Hollywood Collectors Group won't take care of it.

ABORT!

Now, who here is taking part in my anti-CNY (Chinese New Year) movement? :cool We want our replicas holiday delayed free dangit!
