Let's Build Greeblie Pack #12 - A Skyhopper Group Build

My take on Luke putting down the model and it shifting is that maybe the three brass rods were bent downwards to elevate them a little, and when set down hard one of them rotates upwards. Not really breaking.

Back at it! Second time is a charm and quicker too!

For anyone that’s just starting this kit, in addition to the 1-2-3 blocks Blitzkrieg recommended (which I can’t imagine building without) get yourself some blunt tip syringes. WeldOn-3 comes out of the included needle tip bottle like a firehose compared to the precision from applying the glue with a syringe. You can get a pack of them on Amazon.

It’s time to start adding greeblies!

Looking good. That was quick. Your right about the squeeze bottle. I'll have to look into those syringes.

I spent some time working on the under-belly detail last night. It's coming together nicely. But sometimes as your adding greeblies, do you every wonder what the propose of that piece might be? Why did the builder use that piece? And why that location? One such piece would be the Fishing Gaff used above. Is it just a detail piece? If so, why not use strip styrene or another linear model part? And why is it only on one side? Or does it have a real-world (Star Wars universe) application. It's not facing forward so it most likely doesn't shoot out. With the way the angle of the hook is positioned, I'd like to think that maybe it swings out and down. Then used to retrieve items in flight. Like packages or critters and such, Womp rats? You ever ponder such things?

Once again below I've tried to add some helpful reference images of this area. Along with a couple photos of a simple base I made to help position the model while working on the underside. It's just a scrap piece of 4"x4" lumber wrapped with a cloth. But it really worked great to keep the model at a nice angle during assembly.

The left and right halves of the cockpit are mounted on separate pieces of styrene so they can be slid into position after painting and applying decals. I made a mockup of the body out of extra acrylic to figure out the location of everything in relation to the angles and it worked beautifully.
