Thank you so much!! I was fortunate enough to see the costume in person and take a ton of photos. Ive been sewing for many years now and live in Southern California. Texture and look was most important so I headed into the fabric District. I managed to find all the materials in less than 2 hours. However the basket weave I found i bought all of it (15 yards) I used 11 and am now crossing my fingers that the Sith Lords at the 501st don't want any changes to the actual structure or I am going to have issues!
The entire thing was hand dyed by me, I used boxes upon boxes upon boxes of dye and then coated it all in spray lacquer. That gave it a "slight" shine. I've tried 10 different things on my materials to try and get it to shine. My friend knows that the plastic is added after the pieces are cut. This is also obvious because there is no shine at all on any of the fray.
Thus far Ive tried
Shiny Acrylic Paint
Fabric Fusion (looks amazing but made the entire thing stiff as a board)
Plexi-Dip
Hard Wax
Spray Gloss
Canvas coating
Super shine armor all
Shine Gloss Paint on
Fabric Dye
Shine Fabric Dye
and i am sure there are one or two more that I am forgetting x.x
The gloves I hand made myself. I bought a pair of leather gloves and I unseamed them and went to town restitching the designs then i just reseamed the gloves
the boots are just basic. I added three lines of leather
The belt I hand made and i hand cut the front design out of Cintra same with the belt buckle
