Jonah Hex Leila

love the character's look though not seen the movie. Could work well modified as a steampunk outfit. The wig you use is perfect...lace front?
Im shocked at the lie that that corset company uses....You pay for steel boning, it takes alot more work to construct boning channels that can handle steels without breaking, to use plastic but say theyre steel is aweful and something to expect from a dodgy chinese ebay corset.

This is taken off one of their listings on ebay:

"Construction
At Meschantes Couture we build our corsets using only high quality, durable materials and construction methods. We take pride in our craftsmanship and attention to detail, ensuring each corset is of excellent quality. A perfect undergarment both for under work clothes... or as a shapely aid to an evening dress or wedding gown. Our corsets are designed using 2 layers of sturdy cotton in a complementing color and we use a combination of 20+ spring steel and spiral steel bones which are ideal for providing support while maintaining mobility and flexibility of the torso. Triple reinforced stitching and durable twill tape at the waist adds extra reinforcement for the longevity of the garment and superior waist control. Our solidly reinforced corsets are not the flimsy cookie-cutter "corsets" you see elsewhere. Each piece is engineered to withstand years of enjoyment (even for tightlacers). This corset will easily and comfortably train the waist down 4"-6" and laces up in back with grommets."

Pretty much all their listings say something like that 20+ steel bones. Mine had none, just the front and back busks. Also I am far from a tightlacer, my corset is falling apart already. I've only worn it a handful of times. and my modesty panel in the back was too short and not the correct shape, I ended up taking it out.

For a mid level price corset, it's not that bad, but I just can't get over they say they use steel when they don't. I was trying to keep it under budget when I bought it, that's why I didn't reorder from Versatile fashions. They are the BEST but are PRICEY! My first corset was custom made by them and it is a work of art. Not uncomfortable at all. The meschantes corset my back is killing me after a few hours.

Just curious...as i know some companies use realy thin steels which arent much better than plastic. The way to be sure is to place a magnet onto the bone inside the corset. if it sticks, its steel, if not its plastic

I cant find anywhere on their site, what boning they do use But youd think for a company that says its a 'couture' company, they'd only use steels and it would state it somewhere (maybe i missed it but if so, its not easy to find).

I didn't find it on their site either. But it is posted on their ebay ads. But yes, if they are "couture" they should be using higher quality steel.

On my corset, under the fabric, i can actually feel the grooves in the boning that you find on cheap plastic boning they sell at joannes.

I'm so glad that you were able to get pics with Scruff- he asked me to make the costume, and I told him I'd make it for my sister... and then I ran out of time. My mom was able to throw together a "close" version at the last minute (like, in one week, with only 1 day to fit it to my sister, which only partly worked!) Your entire costume turned out much nicer, and you wear it well. (Though my sis had fun hanging out with Scruff and wearing the costume!) I'm also really impressed with your expression.. because vacant really is difficult to pull off!! I guess that's part of the reason I didn't want to wear the costume myself, despite it's super hottness!

Your corset does look lovely- and I'm sure that if you ever wanted to "upgrade" the boning in it, you'd be able to.

acosplaylife4me --so I must have misheard my friend who was going over my corset, because upon further inspection when I broke it out for Dragoncon it does not appear to be all steel boning. Just the front and back busks. So I apologise for that mislead.

@Scruff Ken and I did meet up for photos, and they came out spectacularly!

Lilah was remarkably not that popular a costume it seems. However Comic Con is usually a terrible costume litmus as to what's "in," Dragoncon is usually better about that. I think Ken may have been the only Jonah there, and I was one of only 4 Lilahs that I am aware of, one of whom was a friend of mine who did the white outfit. And it still wasn't very recognized lol. But some people did get it, and when Ken and I posed for photos I think it made a lot more sense. All in all it was still a very fun costume!
