You will love it, but will you build it ?

I can't build at the moment anyway...

This is freaking amazing. Is it 501st approvable though? :p

Re: FOAM speed building files ►Stormtrooper◄ in progress.

Here an example of the very usefull "cookie-cutter" trick :
- cut along the area you want to raise (or depress)
- pull (or push) this isolated area
- seal it on the inner side so it's flawless :

EXACTLY. The other bonus (besides obviously having a perfectly fit piece) is that you can set the recess depth to whatever you need, 1mm,2mm, anything up to the thickness of the foam. I think this method looks so much better than just backing a cutout with another piece.. That's an excellent example pic!

Re: FOAM speed building files ►Stormtrooper◄ in progress.

Nothing new announced before 2014.
But it mustn't be a reason to twiddle your thumbs meanwhile : feel free to get a copy of pep designer and start your own foam templates thread. The first post 48 pages back from here is a wide showcase of examples, each of you can study these files, learn from them, develop his own method and become the new totem-pole-reference in foam unfolding. Sooner or later my dropbox will explode, one of you will have to carry on.
Makes me think I should model some trial blank pdo, so you can learn unfolding step by step... That would be a useful challenge for everyone on therpf !

great idea!

Re: FOAM speed building files ►Stormtrooper◄ in progress.

you sir are what is known as a animal...best thread to watch on the rpf, even if im not building this stuff. fantastic work.

Re: FOAM speed building files ►Stormtrooper◄ in progress.

A variant of the cookie-cutter trick :
angle your blade when cutting your foam so you obtain some bevel-edged cookies. Then, glue them over (or under) the hole they left in the main foam piece.

Re: FOAM speed building files ►Stormtrooper◄ in progress.

Thanks, and you're welcome.
This thing is a nightmare to build. In the movie it's supposed to be a rushed army upgrade with rough square shapes and quick addons, but out of foam it's a real puzzle game (just like Halo stuff!) : a ton af edges, a ton of corners, for finally a sober and quite sraight design vaguely detailed that seems so simple... But at the end, it's still one of the most frightening suits ! WARMACHINEROX !

Re: FOAM speed building files ►Stormtrooper◄ in progress.

Hi I'm totally new to this forum. After shopping the ****-poor selection of overpriced crappy costumes for my son(who wants to be the iron patriot this year), I've decided my anal retentive ness for accuracy has taken over, and I think I'd like to throw this(costuming) atop my pile of hobbies/addictions lol. After building a pretty good proton pack last year, I realized I have the skills for the execution of the whole thing.
One problem- I own a mac(awesome, but not for pepakura). I refuse to run windows ANYTHING on my machine. I know, I know but it's like putting ketchup on a filet mignon. Is there a reasonable way to get PDFs that I can print without having to run wine, parallels, boot camp or any of that stuff?
Oh please please please help I'm trapped in the body of a perfectionist!

Re: FOAM speed building files ►Stormtrooper◄ in progress.

Welcome,
and good news, there's a way : the perfectionnist you are won't stand building from pdf files when he could take advantage of the dynamic 3D view, sizing abilities and every other features of pdo files and their pepakura software. Building from pdf would be just like eating a picture of a filet mignon. So, ask someone to lend you any used laptop, or buy an old one somewhere on the web. You won't be tearing your hair and your mac will remain safe.

That WM looks great. I can't ever get over how clean your stuff is. Whenever you see a glue spot on mine it's because I'm yelling at my kids.....

Re: FOAM speed building files ►Stormtrooper◄ in progress.

Then yellings come in pairs : the first when "don't run the stairs!", the second when "...and you made me make a spot!".

Re: FOAM speed building files ►Stormtrooper◄ in progress.

The kitchen roll trick, useful to handel your parts when coating them :

(never bin your empty kitchen rolls)

At last it finally starts to look like something :

nice wm bro hope my skills gets somewhere close to yours one day.!
my little brother wants a warmachine hes 5'8'' what would be good ballpark scale for his height?

Re: FOAM speed building files ►Stormtrooper◄ in progress.

thats a nice looking WM man.

im planning on building one soon with your files but that back in your pictures looks totally different from the torso file in your WM files.
assuming its free handing basing it on the original files?

Re: FOAM speed building files ►Stormtrooper◄ in progress.

For this build I'm using stagefivedrift's HD model (@405th team).
I plan (a bit later) to replace the WM templates from the first post by two different sets aiming two different builds : a quick and easy set from juice's model (or from a rev of the present robo's model), and a much longer and detailed set using stagefivedrift's model. Just be patient.

Re: FOAM speed building files ►Stormtrooper◄ in progress.

The order is a display bust, the guy already has his own WM helmet.

A couple of biceps from the end, then rubber coat.

Re: FOAM speed building files ►Stormtrooper◄ in progress.

that is sick man, really sharp!
cant wait for those files, i use the same type of foam on my iron man build currently, decathlon tg-100 :D

epsilon adheres really good on it but for warmachine i need something quicker, so probably PVA, only my test pieces still come out all textury (not really a word but hey)
