JFcustom's FOAM files

Re: FOAM speed building files'n'tricks ►Multi-Hero cowl◄ added.

Dadpool I think because Iron patriot is an updated version on war machine its much the same design as the old war machine forearm but more sleek not so square and bulky :D

Had a bit of a set back last night got the abs (which by the way look awesome using these files :D) and the cod piece done but connecting what I have together with tape I now relise I've made the chest and back to small :( the abs would sit in chest piece properly !!! grrrrr lol so will have to rebuild the chest and back tonight.

Perhaps I should start with the chest on my builds better to do the cod piece and the abs first huh

hi, just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem as me? i have the iron patriot files but for some reason the forearm is from the war machine not IP... is that right? thanks

I just downloaded the IP files to verify. It is the Iron Patriot's forearm and definitely not War Machine's in the zip file.

finished JF'sCap helm, learnt a lot, glueing is getting better, made this from 2mm foam as it's what I had available and it was more an excercise rather than for actually using or wearing

gonna do the IP helmet next, in 6mm

alright , i think i messed up here . the parts are not going right with the other ones but the print markers are right. the parts are not connecting . my settings are portrait, a4, width 210 height 297 side margin and top margin 15, lineweight 5, transparency 100%, print alignement marks and its default scale. 911669_10152860625115002_1007132499_n.jpg954301_10152860623720002_1870635294_n.jpg967385_10152860626015002_318698880_n.jpg

Re: FOAM speed building files'n'tricks ►Multi-Hero cowl◄ added.

you're are almost there charlie, youhave to trim the paper back to the alignment marks, then the patterns will join up, JF says to trim the top and left hand edges of the page, that then leaves you the right hand and bottom edges to lap over and glue too

On another note, is the reason my pic isn't showing because it's just uploaded from my PC and not hosted online?

I tend to for go sticking all the pages together just cut everything out then use pep viewer to work out which piece need to be stuck together then transfer it to foam I can get a lot more out of the foam that way :D I'm not sure about cutting directly onto the foam whilst at the same time cutting the templates out as I haven't got that much of a steady hand so I draw round the templates first then cut them out afterwards.

Re: FOAM speed building files'n'tricks ►Multi-Hero cowl◄ added.

yeah , i am printing the captain amaerica face again since instead of tracing the parts into foam and then cut it i placed the parts and started cutting both paper and foam i it didnt end up well. Its not a good idea. But its good that the paves are exacly aligned so for now this method is working for me

pva (elmers?) the templates to the foam then cut them out after the glue dries, you can peel the templates from the foam after cutting or after gluing

Heya guys. Here is my WIP of the classic Iron Man build. These peps were originally Eye of Saurons but JF was kind enough to start converting them for foam ( and I begged a lot). Im a big fan of the classic build and nobody was doing it. The files are not complete. JF is a very busy man and I am waiting patiently for the rest. He was kind enough to convert the ones I have. Let me know what you think and let JF know. Or if someone would like to help tackle the project that would rock too. The Legs, Boots and Side pods still have yet to be done. Let me know what you think. Its my first foam project so be kind. :) And as always thanks JF. classic iron man arm 2.JPGclassic iron man arm 1.JPGiron man bicep 2.JPGiron man chest 1.JPGiron man chestplate back.JPGchestplate 2.JPG

So I've built a full Mark 6 using Stealth's files so I get the 90 degree cuts and and joining them but I am still trying to wrap my head around the JFCustom method. In particular, how do you make the underside cuts where the pattern isnt seperated but there's still a bend.

Do you just burn the underside with a wood burning tool and glue..using your cut out as a guide? Thanks in advance!

Re: FOAM speed building files'n'tricks ►Multi-Hero cowl◄ added.

He has it on his first post about 3/4 the way down with a picture:

Making a mountain is nearly the same, but you have to make a double cut, in order to remove a long toblerone-shaped piece of foam.

1- draw your mountain on the inner side,
2- cut on either side of this line by an angle of 45°, more or less depending of the desired salient of your mountain, each cut in a single pass, without perforate the foam,
3- remove the toblerone, and apply glue inside the notch,
4- fold your mountain to its desired angle,
5- wait...
6- release, it's done.

I punch holes where the lines are, connect the dots, and then cut the 45 degree angles to make it bend. I tried to show it on my Tribes thread.....

Re: FOAM speed building files'n'tricks ►Multi-Hero cowl◄ added.

Has anyone tried making the Daft Punk helmets from the foam pep?

Re: FOAM speed building files'n'tricks ►Multi-Hero cowl◄ added.

I love that "toblerone" seems to have become an official foam armor building term.
