Oops sorry double post

Re: JayMay's War Machine and Mark V Iron Man. Peppers Ghost Eye Lighting System Expla

looks awesome Jay!
do you mold the faceplate separately from the main body of the helmet?
And if you do. do you make a waste mold for the original sculpt and then just work off of your first cast?

haha im trying to get more acquainted with the molding process.

Re: JayMay's War Machine and Mark V Iron Man. Peppers Ghost Eye Lighting System Expla

wow Jay I totally missed this. really well done.

It was sculpted as one piece, the faceplate was cut out and refitted to the helmet and then molded seperately from the helmet.

okay cool!
I just started my Iron man sculpt and im liking it so far. i just underestimated the amount of clay i will need. so i put it on hold until i can get my hands on some more clay.

I probably start a thread today.

Thanks! -Jacoby

Re: JayMay's War Machine and Mark V Iron Man. Peppers Ghost Eye Lighting System Expla

Its been a while, here are a few small updates on some of the projects I'm currently working on.

First is the LED setup for the helmets. I've been sculpting an "eyepod" for the faceplate which contains the LEDs and lenses. With a little modification these seem to fit any gen War Machine I've done and the Mark V. I've been consulting a local guy that's big into LED lighting and has done the lighting of "the man" at burning man since 2006. Here are some pics of some of the materials that I am possibly going to use.

I'll post some pics of the eye socket set up when I get it straightened out.

The other project I've been working on is the larger meaner war machine. After wearing the last generation helmet for a couple nights and a day around Halloween I came to the conclusion that it needed to be wider and taller and it definitely needed more ventilation. I'm planning on adding a slim fan in the back portion of the center "mohawk" area. Drawing air from the back of the helmet and blowing over the faceplate with an additional fan in the chin area.

Cheers,

Eye sockets are almost done and I have tomorrow off from work so Im sure a lot will be done.. I think Ive figured out how this will work without having any hot spots from the LEDs, they always look great photographed but not great in person. I'm trying to change that lol.

Re: JayMay's War Machine and Mark V Iron Man. Peppers Ghost Eye Lighting System Expla

Dude, I cannot wait to see this since I'm very interested in the electronics part since I am aiming to get the lighting etc done soon after ive finished my helmet.

Keep up the great work!

Just for reference these LEDs are running at 12 volt 1.2mAh.
I'm working on a few new things.. Accuators for the faceplate are being tested right now.. Pics a little later today. Im also looking to start nickel plating the face plates.

Re: JayMay's War Machine and Mark V Iron Man. New lighting ideas.

Hi everyone. I hope that I am not hijacking but I have been working on a helmet that I got from Jaymay and he asked me to post some pics so here goes. I changed the style a little bit to make it unique and more comic inspired. I still havent finished yet. I need to put the lights in the eyes and line the inside with cloth. I cannot take credit for the paint job. I had a friend that works in auto repair paint it up for me in his shop.

This second pic is next to a helmet I got from another member here.
