James Bond: Skyfall

Okay I have to throw in my rating.

#1 Connery/Brosnan

#2 Moore

Distant #3 Lazenby

Very, Very distant #4, like at the bottom of the hole Dalton

Under the bottom, about 100 ft under the ground,....nope. Can't even say it. Craig is not Bond in any way shape or form. I like him, enjoy him in other stuff but there is nothing Bond about him.

Sorry

Personally, Craig drew me into the Bond franchise. I have seen most of the Connery movies, which are classics (IMHO), but the Brosnan movies were to the point where they were ridiculous.

Craig's Bond is harder, grittier, which I like, similar to what was done with the Bale Batman flicks.

And man does he look old in the new one. What are we, a few months into his career. Plus the hole M thing. If your gonna re-boot don't keep the same M. It just seems silly. Love her as M but talk about continuity gone crazy.

Hey, there is a new video series for someone to make. "Continuity gone wild"

Bond who never ages much then travels back in time to the begining in modern times.

5 Highlander movies and a TV series and not a one of them make sense with the others.

Firefly fun-Serenity dark, depressing, retcon story

Jack Ryan-Alec Baldwin Awesome, Harrison Ford sucked, Ben Affleck-Pleeease and again traveled back to the begining in modern times.

How many times can you find pieces of Data, Data siblings, cousins, nephews former roomates.

Plus the whole Borg thing. Was cool then changed and ruined them.

How many different times can Skynet launch an attack to wipe out humanity. There have been at least three now.

How can anyone say that. They all said Bond was a dead franchise and Goldeneye, the Best Bond film ever. Hello,...006 as the bad guy. It relaunched the franchise and everyone loved it.

That is the ultimate Bond film. Only flaw is they should have emphasized he was 006 after he returns, otherwise perfect. Okay the next three were not as good but a heck of a lot better then whatever those Craig things are.

What about him is Bond other than his name.

You could call this Jim Brown and you would never know it was Bond.

No gadgets, Q, Ms. MoneyPenny??????? What's left that's bond. He aint' suave, charming or very good looking.

BTW just discussing here for fun. If you like him that's fine. I just don't see how you can.

I'll have to agree here. Craig brought me back into the Bond series. It was getting progressively boring with the Bonds being vanilla or pedestrian to me. Now dont get me wrong it worked and that was the classic bond...suave, charming, brunette, clean cut with an average build. Craig comes in blonde, blue eyed, gritty and rough with an impressive physique. I want to say that Craig's Bond is more intense especially hand to hand.

Look at the successful musicians out there, most of them had to make a change to their music to continue to survive in the industry.

True enough. I enjoyed Casino Royal. I just needed them to call it "The new adventures of this other person who also works for M." Maybe he can be 005. Not quite as good as 007 but close. Good with the fighting, lacking the suave. Maybe that's the true significance of the 00 system.

All of the actors who have played Bond have their good points and bad points. They all add a little something to the character. I like all the Bond movies. (Well, maybe not Moonraker so much! lol)

I cant wait to see Shanghai in Skyfall!

Welcome to the Internet! Where people are free to express their opinions, even if you don't agree with them!

Out of Brosnan's run, Goldeneye was by far the best. But by the time Die Another Day was through, I think the franchise needed something new.

I realize people enjoy the classic Bond character. Personally, I prefer Craig's version, and I look forward to seeing where they go with him.

Okay, most agree Goldeneye rocked. The other three were okay but not as good as Goldeneye.

Why does everyone hate Die Another Day??? It did as well if not better than the others. It was not better or worse than the other two Goldeneye followups as far as I'm concerned.

What's with the hatred for DAD?

I'm going to go ahead and assume you're never actually read any of Ian Fleming's Bond novels.

Goldeneye was great, and is still to this day one of my favorite Bond films. Every other Brosnan Bond film was complete crap, and "Die Another Day" was by far the worst of them. I think the reason for all the DAD hate is that it's truly just an awful, horrible movie. The scene with the invisible car was bad enough, then they threw in the whole thing with Bond outrunning the giant sunbeam that was being shot from a satelite IN SPACE. At that point, I felt more like I was watching a crappy straight-to-DVD Spy Kids sequel.

As for my favorite Bond films? Goldeneye, You Only Live Twice, Never Say Never, Dr. No, Casino Royale. I really love Live and Let Die too. And hey! I liked Moonraker! But I've always had a soft spot for Jaws.

I didn't absolutely despise DAD but it sure isn't up there. One thing I wasn't crazy about (in addition to things already mentioned) was the speed-up-slow-down editing effects. Bond is not the place.

My favorites are:

From Russia With Love
Casino Royale
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
The Spy Who Loved Me
Never Say Never Again (yes, better than Thunderball)

Moonraker is really the only one I don't like.

Brosnan's best movie is "The Matador." I LOVE that movie!

I'm excited for Skyfall. Those Shanghai pics have a noir Blade Runner look to me. Can't wait to see what it looks like.

Personal Favorites...

From Russia With Love
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Dr.No
Goldfinger
Thunderball
You Only Live Twice
Diamonds are forever.

..And Never Say Never again

Nope, you guessed right. Just a Bond movie person. I know the novel guy was not the same.

The thing I love about DAD, and all the points that got brought up are true, is the beginning. I love that something went wrong, he got caught, and was not able to escape.

A buddy and I were kicking around ideas for a Bond Trilogy and having him captured at the end of one and the next pick up several years later and he is still being held, long hair, etc. So you can imagine how excited we were with the beginning of DAD. For sure overdone after that.

Still some good stuff though.

Moonraker is another that I don't understand all the hate. I love it. Cheesy yes but as Roger Moore told Jane Seymour, "Lighten up, it's just a Bond movie."
