that faceplate from the military walkin, compared to rhodes faceplate are totally different, i see. theres alot more depth in the separation lines of rhodes. almost like the front faceplate is meant to dynamically break in pieces and retract somewhere.
unlike the military walkin faceplate where the front faceplate is obviously very smooth, flush lines.
which is weird because in that pic the face plate is just plainly raised up.
hmm.
I think we'll have the answer to this tomorrow (I hope). Seems unlikely that they'd have a shot available like that of a scene-specific helmet that could be spotted as different. Then again, (and bear with me), The Hot Toys War Machine looks identical in every way to the Iron Patriot (except for the paint scheme), so you'd assume it is a repaint. Then I came across this while remodeling the cannon:

Those are two different fittings on an otherwise identical assembly, WM has a retainer-nut style while IP just has two bolts (fyi I left this piece removable in my model just in case :rolleyes) So if that's different, what else is? I understand that I'm assuming the Hot Toys WM is accurate and that the WM and IP are identical except for paint jobs. But if I'm right, then one of these pictures is out of whack for some reason. Sorry for my CSI-style rant, but you can imagine how much this bothered me when I remodeled the arm :behave
isnt that the left hand side on the toy and the right on the picture meaning where looking at two different sides of the cannon ?
Yeah I've done that more than once. I've used hinges like those on flush cabinet doors, but I didn't know they sold a style like that. Sweet!
I just went back and checked the scaling on both the paper and foam files, and they were correct.
Rough cannon length at default scale is 472mm or 18.6"
Rough Cannon length at 393.5 scale is 437mm or 17.2"
I guess I don't know where 7" is coming from? :confused
Not sure where i got that from either, lol, maybe i scaled it and then saved it by accident or something, Thanks for the measurements. :thumbsup
Hi guys
I have been cutting and assembling the lower torso the whole afternoon till now (midnight) . Once again my scale is off . I am average build and 1.73 high . I scaled the lower torso 395 which is about 31 cm wide on the smallest section . I need approx 36 cm wide which equates to a scale of approx 465 . But my dilemma is then my upper and lower torso would become 10 cm too high . I don't think I am oddly shaped . Any guys that have my width and hight . That can tell me what their experience was and what scale they used . How do I compensate the extra hight ? ( 10cm extra seems too much to compensate and most probably will look stupid ) . My arms are scaled 378 and fit like a glove . I am getting really frustrated any help is highly apprechiated
Hey guys, i'm completely new to this whole process, and have been working on the War Machine outfit from Iron man 2. I really love the new look of War machine.
I just have a question, since these files are scaled for a person who is 6 feet, How do I downscale it for myself? I'm 5'9, 155lbs. I was using Stealths old war machine foam files, but these ones are awesome.
Should I just decrease the size by 10-20%? Stealths shoulder pieces were justtt right in terms of size.
It finally sunk in, now I get what you meant : 3D printed eyes outline in red translucid material to be place in front of white lenses, like the red outer part of my reactor ? That's a wonderful idea, I just gave it a shot in blender, but without a helmet in my possession I'm not sure I can get the curves right.Teragon
:eek Thats too amazing! Man it looks too great in the chest :thumbsup Have you thought of doing this for the eyes(it looks like a red translucent bordering the edges of the eyes. Im guessing with a white light, it should give that "lightsaber" effect)?

By the way, what did you use to diffuse the light in the front? it looks like it works really well

It will have to be cast in a red tinted transparent resin I think, because neither Sculpteo nor Shapeways offer a red translucid material. So regular material, then mold and cast this time.
Acrylic doesn't bend.
Acrylic doesn't bend.
Yes it does...
It bends by heating your right.you can bends up to 1 inch plastic...i know this because Im into fishtanks I've helped build them..also watched Tanked...lolHaha, I had to look it up. The Ponoko site itself says that acrylic is about as stiff as plastics go. I do know that you can heat-form it to shape, although I don't think I've ever tried to. I have no idea if Teragon can get away with a 2 dimensional insert, probably not.
