Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! V2 files coming soon!

Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! V2 Shoulder Cannon added

Peruski- In fact, its pretty much exclusive for foam (it might be too hard to build with paper but im still modeling it for paper just in case someone wants it in paper build)

Teragon- Awesome hope it turns out ok :)

Murdoch- Not sure. Theres only 3 pieces that i am rushing right now and after those 3 are completed, i will start to release those 3 and the rest of them as i finish them :) Ill try to rush the other two though. Shouldnt be too hard now that i have a good picture of it ;)

Turned out good, I think :

The black line under is the outline of Jackie's face plate eye outline, so as you can see my model is more curved, like it appears to be on this :

It should fit good, especially if you have an inner black lid that you can tweak a bit. Can't assure 100% compatibility with biggeek's helmet until I get mine.

Well the new spotlight wasn't anything to crazy or what we haven't seen before haha. But the movie looks epic!

This thread is amazing...and is going to cost me more monies when I have to build this..like next week haha.

Jackie you might have your work cut out for you I just got these in the mail and the one on the left I've never seen before and is entitled mark 43 .... And btw were you gonna model the deep space suit or not? All the projects your doing I'm confused :confused

Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! Left boot added

Teragon- Awesome! Glad it turned out good!

Cubone- Awesome your deadpool costume is great! Exited to see your progress :):thumbsup

IronShwarma2754- Ooooo wow the Mk 43?? Thats pretty new/cool news to me :popcorn.
And yes once the movie comes out (not enough pics right now and the toy isnt good enough quality), I wouldnt mind modeling the deep space suit after i finish these two new ones :)

Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! Left boot added

Finally got a chance to finish up the chest. I messed up on a few parts, but it actually did not come out that bad, i wanted to make the armor look beaten up when i go to paint it anyway, so it all works out i guess. I should invest in a heated knife to cut the foam with next time around. my 45's are coming out Honorable!!

IronShwarma2754- Hehe youll see soon ;)

Ladman- Looks good! Exited to see the rest of it built :)

Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! Left boot added

if anyone is interested :
.blend eye Iron patriot eye.blend (not scaled)
.obj left eye eyeleft.obj (not scaled)
.obj right eye eyeright.obj (not scaled)

And finally the arc with corrected back plate (3x2x0.4 inches, fits right in a 393.5 torso)
.blend arc.blend
.obj arc.obj

Will have the eyes friday, along with the aluminum pods things that go on the torso. No need to post those, Ladman already posted some that are really similar to mine.
Eyes alone were around 15$, but remember that unless you can choose red translucid material, they'll have to be moulded and casted.

Thanks Jackie!!

I'm hoping that when i StyroSpray1000 the suit, that i will be able to hide some of the defects. I want to put on about 5 coats of it on all the pieces, plus i am going to reinforce the entire inside of all the pieces with fiberglass so it will be extra sturdy, especially the back where the cannon is going to be.

On another note, Has anyone ever tried to use a heated knife to cut threw foam mat's? im having a hell of a time trying to cut a 45 degree edge on pieces, they just keep tearing and not coming out smooth to make nice seams.

Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! Left boot added

Yes, I tried using a Dremmel versatip with the blade attachment, which is what I use for detail lines, but the problem if you cut something is that it melts the foam at the same time, giving it a round edge instead of a clean flat edge you get when using an exacto knife. That being said, it cuts through it easier than butter, you don't even feel it cutting.

What you can do, which I have been doing recently and it's working great, is go to a hardware store and buy some interior/exterior multi-purpose 100% Acrylic adhesive caulk to fill in the gaps and imperfections before you move on to the next step as far as sealing the foam (which I already had my pieces coated in plasti dip and it still will work on sealed foam too). It bonds, fills, and seals and it's flexible. It's paintable of course too :thumbsup. You can buy the squeeze tube kind and its cleans up easy with warm water. Just use your fingers to get in the gaps and wipe away the excess with a towel and warm water. I do have one caution, for those who are using plasti dip to seal your foam, use the spray can and not the brush on method on the caulked area (after the spray dries, then use can brush or spray it for more coats) because I noticed that the brush on plasti dip is strong enough to start removing the caulk (maybe it wasn't completely cured but that's what happened in my experience). Hope this helps!

Later tonight, I will try and post some before and after pics of some parts I use the caulk on.

Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! Left boot added

has anyone come up with an alternate material to use thats NOT foam?
ive been waiting to see if anyone will come up with new alternatives for an easier cleaner approach to making these suits..

so far ive seen that r110's 400gsm paper looks like a nice option that doesnt require alot of prep to paint.. and that plastic sheeting material (forgot the name of it)

if i gotta go foam, i guess i will.

What I have found to work the fastest and best (cuz I do have a heat knife which I got after using the exacto knife for a while and it is better than the exacto knife) is getting a utility knife from a hardware store and a 5or10 pack of blades. They don't dull nearly as fast and the cut wayyyyy better! Super crisp cuts and can cut so easy you have to be extra careful. This is a pic similiar to the knife I'm using. This style is easier to use than the standard utility knife in my opinion for this type of project.

I would suggest sticking with foam when making wearable suits for multiple reasons: It's easy to buy, easy to work with, the fastest material to model with, you don't have to worry about adding soft material/padding inside for comfort, can leave if flexible to give you that extra mobility, can stretch if a piece wasn't cut out exactly and can easily mod to make pieces work for you, and the list goes on lol.

Wonderflex might be good for you. Some cosplay builders use it. As I know you can stick them together using a heat gun or even a hair dryer.

Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! Left boot added

There's a few threads you haven't posted that to, you should get on that. We love it when people spam the same thing over and over in different threads.

Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! Left boot added

Teragon- Awesome! Would you like me to put those in the first post? And replace the current Arc reactor file with the new one?

Tvo- Great tip about the Acrylic Caulk! I think i might have to try that on future builds :thumbsup

One more thing to everyone out there: does anyone have any good pics of the bottom of the boots of the Mark 42??? They might turn out to be pretty helpful :)
