A lot of people were experimenting, I know R11no used a Honda color for the blue, and Murdoch was doing a lot of experimenting with two-stage chromatics that looked great too.

I'm approaching my colors from an analytical (and lazy) standpoint. I ordered aerosol samples of Testors Insignia Red and Insignia Blue (colors used on the majority of the Thunderbirds jets), Blue Angel Blue, and aluminum and metal-flake silver to try for base colors. I want to see how some small pieces look in colors identical to similar Air Force paint schemes, and hope it's at least a decent starting point.

I arrived at this point ... I'll start to spend the weekend fiberglass.
2-3 external resin and then test the primer

I thought I would put under the shoe, the foam, so even if the rest is fiberglass, I can wear it and walk

Boots are looking good! Let us know how the foam works out, I'm looking for a better way to finish mine.

I like the way you think! :thumbsup

found some eva foam at last ! I'll finally be able to continue building my suit. In the mean time I got my LED units for the arc eyes and gloves, so I played around a little :

and off :

Still experimenting for the eyes, it's tricky to replicate this light saber blade effect to the naked eye. Looks good in pictures, but orange-red flat in reality ...

Awesome, especially your arc reactor! I'd be wearing that all over the house. :lol

Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! V2 Shoulder Cannon added

you no you just want to keep giving us sneeky peeks dont you jackie but awsome work man bout time this suit was modeled by so one of ur stature sir
So Helagak said he's going to work on a Mk 5 too. You guys should get together and knock that thing out!
Swwwwwwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetttttttttt!!!

Thanks guys! But i had to take a break from the Mk V for a little bit. IronLeoMan gave me a great idea so ill try to model the Mk V and this new one at the same time.

R11no, Iamking, Peruski, Ironmaided, Ladman

Exactly... ;)

Banner, IronShwarma2754, Don Juan, Ladman

Thanks guys! And now we know how the faceplate opens :)

I finally think I got the scale right for the arm . Maybe give me your opinion if you think this looks right ( don't mind the helmet , it's the second one I buggered up lol ) . I have a question regarding the shoulders . Must they be scaled the same as the the arm or the same as the upper torso . I am using 378 for the arm and 395 for the upper torso . Thanks for all the help until now from this awesome community.

Awesome! Keep it up! :)

The shoulders do not have to be scaled the same. It's a good idea to keep them closer to your upper torso scale though so the proportions look right and the bells cover the arm openings better. I would build 390 at the smallest, but it's easiest just to make one and see if you like how it looks. They build pretty fast.

Well put, Laellee :thumbsup

Awesome! Looks great! And sorry about the boot pep file i completely forgot about it :( ill put it in the first post and when IronLeoMan is done with his, there will be two in the first post :)

Teragon
:eek Thats too amazing! Man it looks too great in the chest :thumbsup Have you thought of doing this for the eyes(it looks like a red translucent bordering the edges of the eyes. Im guessing with a white light, it should give that "lightsaber" effect)?

By the way, what did you use to diffuse the light in the front? it looks like it works really well

Dude that looks awesome!! I sent mine to be printed. Cant wait to see how it comes out.

That has been on my mind for a while now. I pretty sure that the "wings" on the sides of the helmet that meet up with the ear pieces are gong to pose a problem. We might have to find a way to push the face plate forward and then have it flip open. I have been talking to therealtonystark to see if his kit for the IM helmet he has would fit the IP helmet. He might be making a new piece so that it will work with it. :love

I was hoping the picture of the open face plate a few posts back would be some help, but it did not as much as i thought that it would.

I have some ideas for the helmet. only that it is difficult to explain it in English. ;)
prepare the image on photoshop and I show tomorrow.

For the foot thought of using the foam, just below the shoe, to be able to walk without breaking the fiberglass, but do everything else in fiber.

I do not think my eyes are all red, but I was thinking of using LEDs in low light and put the red tape to keep them together, so you get the spread of red.

jackieisrockin not worry about the boot, I had prepared for those who, like me, are using fiberglass .. I am cutting the right foot, so complete all the paper and then step to the fiberglass.
Tomorrow morning, I start to prepare the hand plate, thigh, and biceps.
For the hands, I thought of putting the LEDs that light up when I lift my palm, I have the prototype ready ... works well.

Thank you all for your attention, sorry for the English, but with google translate ...
if you need any advice, just ask.

Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! V2 Shoulder Cannon added

Sounds good to me :thumbsup I can still put the unfold in the first post if you would like though just let me know :)

Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! V2 Shoulder Cannon added

prepared the image is very approximate ... but it should give you an idea for some of your project.
thought to an angular bar, fixed to a motor rotation. that in the opening phase being fixed to the face, the open ago flowing outside of the head. I did not prepare the engine because I have the opportunity, but only put the spring clips and close with my hands

Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! V2 Shoulder Cannon added

To diffuse the light, first I had to set the backplate back half an inch, my LEDs are way brighter than I thought it would, so I made extension walls on the inside of the chest around the reactor, then I applied the frosted top part of a Pringles can very close to the LEDs (soon to be replace with a proper frosted sheet of plastic ^^) and then there is the white 3mm PVC cut to fit the reactor that you can see, which has been sanded on the inside but left smooth outside. All in all, back plate isn't necessary if you use Stealth's method in his arc reactor video.
For the eyes, I'm already using white LEDs, same setup as the reactor but with a red transparent sheet of plastic between the frosted sheet and the white PVC sheet. I suppose I can try to cut the red sheet to make a hollow ring, I'll try it when I get back home !

If you put some higher value resistor before the LEDs, they won't light that bright. There are some calculators, e.g. LED Resistor Calculator that helps you in calculating the most optimal value. After calculating it, you only have to buy a higher value one. Very simple

Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! V2 Shoulder Cannon added

For the V2 shoulder cannon (foam), a need to ask the password to Laellee or Joker ?

Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! V2 Shoulder Cannon added

Thanks for the tip Mdonci !

you need to ask Laellee for the password.

on a side note, me and TheRealTonyStark are working on the mechanics of making the V2 cannon move. it will flip forward and then pivot from side to side over the shoulder.

Interesting, really interesting~ I can't wait for the results now. Thanks

Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! V2 Shoulder Cannon added

well maybe after my doctor discharged me :lol health matters
