Ok Please tell me you see it to their something really wrong with this "iron patriot" to me looks a lot like something we've seen before
...before i can release the files, i have encountered a problem :cry
Im not sure what happened (im actually very new to Blender, as in starting last week) but after exporting the file from Blender as an .OBJ or even a .3DS, it shows up in Pepakura like this:
![]()
However as you can see, for some reason it is flipped round the opposite way
If anyone has any advice on how to fix these problems, the sooner you all will be able to get the files...
I've got your fix.....
That's the Tricky part, and I cant EXPLAIN it, I would have to SHOW you that part....
Hope it Helps.
Jackie solved the reversed faces problem a long time ago. Thanks for posting though, I had never thought of checking the normals that way. :thumbsup
I was thinking about that after I posted. I just find the flipped faces in Pepakura and then manually fix the model in Blender/Maya, etc... (thanks Jackie and Helagak for showing me this)It wouldn't have worked, though. Different faces were flipped, the entire model wasn't inside out. So you still would have had the same problem, just with different areas.
Blender has a "recalculate normals to outside" function, when you're in Edit mode. That's how I fix this problem. Select the entire object, and it's under Mesh -> Normals -> Recalculate Outside. Default hotkey is Ctrl+N.
If you use the Boolean modifier ever, it has a lot of problems when normals are inverted or set really weird like that too. I've gotten used to recalculating any time I do a boolean merge or export to OBJ.
It wouldn't have worked, though. Different faces were flipped, the entire model wasn't inside out. So you still would have had the same problem, just with different areas.
well... i got all the right measurements now..i think. i imported all the files form the upper torso to the shin and changed the scale to 385.0 and measured each parts to my body and it's perfect. have u guys tried that? or am i doing it wrong? any comments?
