Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! V2 files coming soon!

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

I'm out of glue sticks anyway, I'll look around in my local hobby store, but I think they only have the one I use.
Back to the topic, to make the joins between forearm and biceps I found some rubber garage door seal, the stuff you stick at the bottom to isolate it, Ladman.

Hmm, Interesting. Ill have to check that out. I started to model something that matched the armor in a referenced image of iron patriot armor. ill see how it turns out, if it works and its good, ill post the file.

Also, not sure what type of foam to use. i know that there is already a question on this topic here. I tried to use a 1/8" roll-out workout mat, but it seams to be too flimsy for the mask. it might work for the rest of the armor, but what is a good thickness to use? 1/4"?3

I found this thread on what some people are using:

http://www.therpf.com/f24/eva-foam-147844/

I think this is the route im going to go.

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

I´ve a question: is there something wrong with the scale of the different parts?
I use the foam files and have a lot of problems with the scale.

The helmet fits perfekt.
The Neck piece is WAAAAAY to big, i had to cut out "23 cm"
The Chest piece is way to big.
The Shin part is way to small...

I´m 173 cm and and my weight is 80 kg.
I´m not fat and not skinny... so what i´m doing wrong here?:wacko

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

As STEALTH wisely said :
Suits are scaled by proportion not height of the person.
example : me and my friend are the exact same height with different proportions.

When he wore my Iron man suit, It just didn't work for his body type at all.

If any height is going to be mentioned, it's the height perimeter you're entering for when you measure your body part lengths

with the exception of the width perimeter for the torso parts.
Meaning you have to play with the scale of each part to be sure it fits you good.

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

Use the point to point measurement tool in the 2D menu to measure a point on yourself, and then measure the corresponding point on the piece of armour you're making, ie armpit to armpit and then armpit to armpit on the chest piece. Then scale the model so that these measurements are the same (or pretty close including taking into account foam thickness, room to move etc) and you should have pieces that are pretty much perfect for your body shape/type.

Don't just assume that because the helmet scale was X that every other piece of armour for that model will be a perfect fit for you if you use the scale of X.

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

Keep in mind that the upper torso, lower torso, neck and hip plates need to be in the same scale to fit together properly, as do the upper and lower leg sections.
It's a good idea to ALWAYS double check your settings before printing in Pepakura. The IP files all load into Pepakura at the default scale, so you will have to rescale on every piece you open before printing. I was in a hurry one night and printed biceps without changing scales, building one before I caught my mistake.

Looks like I can't sleep ... So here is something useful I've been doing to occupy myself :

Forearm and hip plate decals. Modified from real USA Air Force logos.
Feel free to do whatever you want with them !
The forearm decal could be a bit cleaner, but at the scale it should be printed, it shouldn't be noticeable.

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

hi guys I have problems in inverting the sides. Like in the given bicep it is left side now how i will make it right side using pepakura designer?? :confused

sorry for interrupting your discussions . . . . . . :confused

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

Don't do it in pep designer, just flip the template on your foam ! This way you cut down in half your paper consumption and cutting time.

By the way, does anybody know if the white triangle on his side above the hip plate is an existing logo for something or it's just a white triangle ?

I think it's a a intake warning decal, it has the correct placement and orientation for the side ports.

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

You're right, it most likely is this. I'll see if I can make a big one in white to go with the rest. What's funny though is that it doesn't seem to be on the other side...
That's it for the decals I think, the canon decals have been posted some pages ago. And we don't have a clear shot of the back so... It is annoying to get the paint scheme right in the back too by the way.

AGREED. I held back on going any farther on cannon decals until there are better reference shots. Finishing them properly should only take a few minutes when they're needed.
I've got nothing on the back either.

couldn't find a nice sharp big "jet intake", so I made it using the USAAF font. Can't vouch for screen accuracy, but at least it will match the rest of the decals ...

Hey everyone! Im sorry everyone dont worry i havnt forgotten about you all :) its been pretty busy with all of the family in town :unsure but i found a chance to get kickin' again! Here we go will aaaaaaaall of the responses :lol

First off i would like to say Happy Holidays to everyone!!! :)

if they would only release the Hot Toys versions already... :/

Agreed :unsure Hurry up, Hot Toys!!!

Are you going to be working on the hands and feet next?

I think the actual hands are the same as ALL of the other suits so using Zabana's files should be perfect :)

On another note, does anyone here think that the hands, fingers, and boots from the IM MK7 look like they are similar to the patriot Warmachine?

I think the MK VII boots are pretty similar to these, only the back of the IP's boots are all covered by flaps and i intend on making the flap files first :)

this is my progress so far... thanks for the nice model...

Thats lookin awesome!!! Keep it up!

lil view of my work

Great job! It looks AWESOME! (y)thumbsup

As promised. Here they are.

:eek :eek AWESOME!!! Thats too cool. All 3 of them! Great job :thumbsup

What are you guys planning on using to fill in the places in between the forearms and biceps? Or is there going to be a piece of armor in between like in the reference pictures.

Do you mean like these?

If you guys out there want it, i can model them, but i think they would only be good to make out of foam (they might be pretty hard to make out of paper, as they are small and detailed)

Agreed :thumbsup

Found new picture..can see the boots clearly

Awesome! Thanks for this! I havnt seen it yet! It will help lots :thumbsup

And to everyone out there, I have an idea for the forearms: I think ill only model the basic shape of the forearm and leave out the detailed parts such as these:

Because i think they are too detailed to pep all of those ridges :) and then onto the boots ;)

Stealth uploaded a video where a guy did this... He cut foam in a sort of rhombus shape and make the edges flaps. Ahh screw explaining it. Heres the link ---> Fan Made IRON MAN MARK 6 - Costume Overview - Pre-Suit Up - Delray aka BlackDynamo1 - YouTube Skip to 3:42

forgot all about that tutortial!! Thanks for pointing it out to me. that should work, just need to make kit circular. Should be able to do the same thing for the forearm inserts too.

Dont make a copy in pepakura, just print out the left bicep, and then cut it out and use the side it wasnt printed on
