Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! V2 files coming soon!

Hi,Thanks for the files, here's a pic of my son as mini patriot, broke alot of necks last night. DSC_0093.JPG

Good stuff. I loaded mine into my truck to drive to a party, got there, had left a shin at home. Drove back. Found shin on driveway. I had backed over it with my truck. It had fallen out in the dark when I went to get the other pieces.

Glad to see your suit was a hit. Inspires me to repair mine.

i need something that'll pull my hair down and tighten my ears to my head so my helmet wont bulge out because of my ears. or i guess i can tape them down, lol.

its not a balaclava is it? most of them cover the full front face and are thick...

The one I have is open faced, I got it on Amazon, it was a diving head cover. I'll try and find the exact item I purchased.

^^awesome, okay, with a bit of fumbling i found "diving head hood", using those keywords.

those seem to be what everyones using.
now are they breathable and thin? i dont wanna be frying my brain cells in sweat lol

Diving equipment usually comes in two types of materials - neoprene and lycra. Neoprene is a type of foam and it's used for diving insulation - otherwise known as wetsuits. It's thicker and will be in some way marked or labeled. Lycra (which is commonly confused with spandex) is a thin, breathable type of synthetic fabric, and it's similar to what Under Armor or other compression sportswear is made from. That's what you want.

Re: Jackieisrockin's Iron Patriot (IM3) Pepakura Files!

MSLP, Thanks for trying. I'll fix all of this on my own. I'd like you to be my friend after, if you're OK.

ok question. what files would i use foam or paper if i were to build this with card board?

Paper would be your best bet, because cardboard will only flex along a single axis. However, you will want to turn off tabs since you won't need them, and cut the cardboard using the same method you would for foam - that is, cut out the paper template and then transfer it to cardboard to trace or use as a cutting guide.

thanks! that is super helpfull!

I build with cardboard and can tell you you need to use the foam files! Since cardboard is thick (like foam), many pieces in the paper unfold are not needed (the pieces that would build up thickness). Just build using the same steps as foam building, but replace the foam with cardboard!
