Hello, pRoJectEarth7, I am from China, while also making the helmet. Oh, it is your fans. I would like to ask you. Your helmet is how polished the sharp edges of it? There are some small gaps. And a small corner, how do you polish it in place?

Re: Ironman3 MK8 Helm turned IRON PATRIOT (aiming 99% movie accuracy) - NOW READY TO

Such smooth clean work... I'm sad yet happy it's just so amazing I hope I can do anything mildly close. I was wondering how do you make those lips for the edges where the helmet connects and you plan on putting the magnets. When I cut my helmet that's it there's just the two pieces but you have the sections there that seem built in already for connection

Sorry for the late response... been busy with a lot of Tony Stark Headset order.. (y)D

I made the grooves using small diamond flat file...

I'm not sure if I understand your question correctly but regarding the gaps polishing, I used popsicle stick wrapped in sand paper and on other area I used a small block of plyboard wrapped in sand paper... hope my answer helps..

Thanks for appreciating my work... yes when I cut the face plate to separate it from the main helm there are no connecting part so I just put bondo (build-up) and sculpt/carve it to bridge the gap and make the faceplate sit perfectly to the main helm...

Re: Ironman3 MK8 Helm turned IRON PATRIOT (aiming 99% movie accuracy) - NOW READY TO

Sorry for the lack of updates on this build.... but finally I had the chance to make some progress.

A client abroad ordered a Fully finished Iron Patriot Helmet... complete with LED eyes, paint (weathered-look), foam-padded liner, and motorized faceplate.

So here goes...

I started by installing the Rare-Earth magnet on the back-piece part of the helmet.

Then installed a matching magnet on the main helmet...

Also added a protrusion on the back piece that will secure it on the main helmet aside from the side magnets...
attachment.php

Finally sprayed some primer paint on all the parts...
attachment.php

Then proceeded to final paint... First the silver base paint...
attachment.php

Then the final paint color...
attachment.php

Finally finished painting all the parts...
attachment.php

Added some weathering on it...
attachment.php

I tried my best to have an authentic look on the weathering and texturing (like the brushed aluminum look of the faceplate)...

... also the black wash...

I don't want to overdo it but I hope the weathering effect is enough.

Killer work!

Wow man, this is the best hand made helmet ever! :thumbsup
Since i joined this forum, the best helmets i've seen are made with 3D printer. But 3D printer is still a machine, there isn't a great work of man.
But you've reached a perfect helmet only with your hands and this is awesome, fantastic, very difficult! (y)lol:D

Thanks man... I'll try to show how I made it when I find some time... as for the material, I used soft Uratex foam (1/2 inch thick) and a cloth material similar to motorcycle helmet lining... ;)

Thank you very much for appreciating my hard work and sort of my artwork... hope it inspire everyone to do their best and realize that there is more to this hobby than depending on machines... cheers!

Your work is (as always) incredibly clean and sharp.
The weathering is spot on, just right amount.
Even the interior is nicely done, but i wouldn't expect any less.

Great work, keep it up.

What kind of hinge system do you have in there its so clean looking and no binding on the sides

I customized everything... I designed my IP Helmet ready for motorization... I believe it is the ONLY IP Helmet out there that can be motorized with ease... ;)
