I have been following this thread the whole way through. You have inspired me to work on my Iron Man helmet to make it as perfect as I can! Also, your first iron man helmet was very inspirational as well.

To see the things that you did with the limited resources you had available was awesome! I use the wire brush technique on all my sandpaper now! It works great! I try to limit the amount of waste I make when doing these props.

Also, a random unrelated side note. Looking at the picture of the Iron Patriot why the heck would there be a warning sticker on his laser cannon/ railgun?

Actually, the inspiration and motivation works both ways... you guys motivates me to keep on sharing and posting :thumbsup

As for the warning sticker on Iron Patriot's laser cannon, I guess its there to warn Rhodes not to look directly on the laser beam or he'll go blind... :lolLOL

This came out great! Found my way to your thread and glad I did. The detail on this is amazing, and I like how it's more of bondo sculpting then straight pepkura and reinforcement. Big props man!

One question about your small file. The lines made are really nice. Do you happen to remember where you picked it up? Auto-store? Craft store? Wal-mart? :confused

Thanks man... bondo sculpting is really fun to do... the small file came from my previous company, I believe it came from Japan... but I am pretty sure its available almost everywhere.

Everything you can find in ACE Hardware... look for our local bondo (polytuff)... :thumbsup

Hi everyone... I finally finished the mould and pulled my first cast.

I AM NOW READY TO CAST SOME MORE :thumbsup

Below are the photos of the first pull fully trimmed but no primer yet.





The face plate has metal reinforcement on center...

2nd pull I used colored resin to hide the metal reinforcement...

I might have enough components to populate them too..

these can also be used with an Arduino (or whatever) to blink/fade in as well..


also what size head will your bucket fit? (I have a small head!)

I have all my IronMan electronics.. but no bucket yet! (motorized faceplate, sounds, eyes..etc)

My brother's head size is 22.5"... (you can see him on the last part of my post #156 wearing the helmet)... is that small enough for you?
