Re: New iron man suit in the the works

Dark asylum: You are a somewhat new member here and I have to say, for someone with "only" 30 posts, you have managed to impress me (as I'm sure others as well) with your talent, proffessional attitude and the fact that you know the "rules" shows that you respect this forum enough to familiarize yourself with how things work. You are also knowledgable prop building and design which is always welcome assets on this board.
Welcome. We appreciate you joining our little family. :thumbsup

Thanks, it's great to finally be a member of the RPF and this comunity, I'll try my best to be an asset, keep my noise clean, and share my work and knowledge best I can.

I appreciate the welcome and look forward to the future with you and every one else here on the RPF.

Re: New iron man suit in the the works

Open letter to Dark Asylum:

I first want to say i think you do good work and i have not had doubt about it.

I was most suprised when i saw your message about you not understanding why some people do fiberglass.

For us it is questioning our integrety and as propbuilder.
I felt it was disrespect to our methods.

My reasons for my reply was because i was offended, and I had a urge to reply to what i felt was a callout.
I interped you to disregard glassfiber work as as good method of fabricating.

I still belive fiberglass had benefits as you do with vacform.
We also use vacform and se the benefits in using this method on some parts.
We both are used to different methods. But i disagree that one is better than the other.

I want to apologize for comming to hard out. In respect of this topic and to keep it clean i have removed past replies on my own initiative.
We can disagree and argue outside the box and i would like to speak with you one day about methods of trade,
we might not agree but atleast it share point of opinions.

I will honor your tread and show you the respect it is deserved.

Your doing a good job.

I look at it this, just let by gones be by gones, I don't need any more trouble and we can all be professional about things and I can just finish this project simple and easy.

Thanks

Re: New iron man suit in the the works

will the shoes flex at all, like will they be jointed or will they just be a solid piece?
Would that be easy to walk on?

Re: New iron man suit in the the works

Dark asylum... your work is amazing! Thank you for sharing it with us in such great detail!

I know I'm VERY intersted in seeing how these turn out and what sort of pricing is involved in the end. I'll be on the edge of my seat waiting!

The shoe will pivot at the joint (silver discs back from the toe) it's basically like walking in ski shoes and having the toes flex to give a easier step and not a odd frankinstein walk. they raise your foot up about 2+ inches and the heel and the support will continue down and arch.

through tests I my change the in side support with ABS given ther will be more options.

Re: New iron man suit in the the works

I was wondering when someone would try a full Iron Man suit with vacuumforming. I've seen Fiberglass and Resin armors, but not a full vacformed one. It's gotta be as lightweight as a Stormtrooper armor and that's a good thing!

Nice! :D

It is a mucher lighter weight, I still think a stromtrooper armor will weigh less given more layers and parts to the Iron man suits I put extra reinforcement doubling layers at high stress points as well, but over all it ways about 35-45 LBS complete, and the latex parts seem to out weigh the armor, but flexability and lighter weight is a few benifits for sure.

Re: New iron man suit in the the works

Man I can't wait to see the completed version of your IM suit Dark asylum! Checking my CC so I can put a down payment on one of the "mechanical" versions you wil offer....My wife is gonna kill me....

Re: New iron man suit in the the works

This is so very, very awesome! I'm glad to see a nice light weight plastic Iron Man suit being built. And I love the helmet! I'd have never guessed it was vac formed.

Re: New iron man suit in the the works

Ok, so got a little bored today and decided to test the shoes, and I had the ability to walk, run, and jump, no flexing or damage, but they are rather load so I'll be adding a thin rubbed grip to cut down on the noise, but aside from that I found them extremely easy to move in and the toes pivot and the angle lets you roll in your steps very easy.

I Kinda missed wearing them after walking around in my steel toes boots again the ironman shoes my give NIKE a run for their money, soon as I finish the trim on the outside I'll see about video recording the shoes and movement.

Re: New iron man suit in the the works
