Iron man 3 Mk39 Gemini sub orbital suit <pep files are done> WIP

I have a honeycomb texture that I tried to use as the Environment on My Mark 39, but the different angles would DISTORT some Hexagons, making some BIG, some small, and most MIS-SHAPENED.

The price on that carbon fiber really isn't bad. It's 50" inch wide material, I doubt you would need more than 1 yard to do overlays on all the hex sections for the suit.

Thank you whiteraven for collecting some pictures.

I made a comparison, and I am glad that my model came very close to these pictures.
Some coloring are different, but that's easy to fix.

And I got these pictures, supposed to be from Gameloft

Just tried to search for Hex film, but they don't make big enough hex pattern, sad.

Hmmm, new pictures of suits...
Enough for me to get started, although both are very difficult to build.

I am still trying to figure out how to do these suits in paper or foam, it could be crazy, and not for speed build for sure.

I thought these actual suits are lifesize, they are actually not lifesize.

whiteraven,
I did use the pics in your album (see post #84).
Those are great.

I redo the helmet, now it's even easier to build.
Helmet is very hard to make in 3d.
The jaw, and the back now is closer to the ref pics.

I just don't know how to do the eyes.
Seems that when off, the color is darker gold, and when lit, it is glowing white.
And unlike other IM helmet the eyes are not indented.
Any idea(s)?

I think you could follow STEALTH's tutorial (TUTORIAL - IRON MAN HELMET LED LIGHT EYES - YouTube), but but do a light spray of the gold colour on the eyes, and use white led lights. Remember to leave a slit at the bottom to see through though. To make the eyes flat I would suggest making the helmet out of paper/resin, and keep the eyeholes flat (no paper to simulate thickness in metal), then the plastic should be almost seemless with the eyes.

there are some error on the shins as well as the jet pack , on the cod and the shoulders .. just so that you'd sell the best quality pep files ... oh and the handplates are the same as the mark 42 !
good model though

Anyone consider doing the faceplate like you would a Daft Punk helmet? Form it from a clear plastic and use motorcycle tint to add the gold tint?

I think that could work best, and provide additional vision for the wearer.

Just an idea.

Howard Stark,
Thank you for the suggestion.
You suggested to use direct lighting set up.
The slit should go on the top, bottom, and near the nose, so it'll create the eye shape.
I am not a fan of this set up since I am gonna wear my glasses, the visibility is very limited
Light spray on the eyes, that might work. My previous Mk4/6 is using very bright gold color, which is actually semi-transparent metallic paint.
It just need a silver-ish base color

Omarbou1,
When I modeled this, the pictures of the big action figure was not out yet. So yeah, I am not saying this model is 99.99% accurate.
Imagination is added too :D
Even the FB released picture is different than the action figure, or Starboost.
As for the handplate, I was using the children handbook pic as reference. So does everything on the back side and side view.
Seems that the action figure just use the same mold as Mk42.
I do have Mk42 files, or there are free versions that already available.
So no problem in that department. Good catch.
I am not gonna discuss any selling here, but all I can say is quality, delivery and price goes hand-in-hand.

This is my second attempt on the helmet.
This is just temporarily constructed, using masking tape.

I am using duplex cardboard, seems okay, but still a bit too big.
I am trying a new method by hybrid build: paper and foam.
Hopefully I can make it work.
My first attempt is using foam and it was way too big.

Good luck making the suit, looking forward to the seeing it finished! not sure if this is any help but found this image on comingsoon.net.
