Iracel's Definitive Classic Spiderman

Woo. All this progress being made. So, i finally made more web paint and started painting the boots. Same process as before. Use ink to make the dark red squares. Heat set them. Paint on my red hexagons, then paint on the web lines. I have to leave some parts unpainted because not only do I still have to sew in invisible zippers, but to add velcro too. I've also been painting the inside of the arms a bit more too. Spring break is this week, and I'm going to Arizona. So I'm doing all of the painting these next two days (I'm close to being finished, although I'll have to hold off on certain parts of the boots as stated before). Then I can do all of the detailed drawing on the red and embroidery lines when I'm gone.

(the colours are weird in this picture, and this was before the added red hexagons)

I didn't take pictures of the boots (they're still wet anyway.) but I'd like to clarify the paint on the back and butt. It was hard to see the difference between the colors in the pictures, so here are close ups.

Great progress! I wish I had the sewing skills to make a suit. But sadly, I am only able to sew a lopsided mask...

I can't wait to see it finished!

This is just mega awesome! Amazing work as always Iracel, your progress is so fast too o_O
Love your unique designs, can't wait to see more!!! :)

Hey everyone! I'm back from Spring Break. I don't know why its capitalized. I guess it was very important to me. But don't think I got a break from the costume.

All I have to do is finish the boots, stitch up the seam lines (which I wasn't able to do because the art store out there had every embroidery thread color except black), stitch velcro to the boots and legs (velcro which I was able to find.), and finish the palms of the hands. And fix one of the eyes. MAYBE redo the back spider, because the iridescent film over it is cracking and it looks bad. But I don't think people will pay attention to it/notice. But all in all, the costume is almost done. Yet, for some reason, I'm not feelin it. Of course, that always happens, so who cares. Everyone else likes it.

Also, look out for my Miles/Gwen Costume mix thread this week. Maybe next week, at least.

Boots and Gloves finished. Like a beast. But I have to find some shoes, because it turns out the aqua shoes I got are made too well. The shoe part is glued and stitched and heat set into the sole. Soo... Can anyone point me to awesome cheap shoes?

I'm buying some grip gloves to cut up and use on that and my other spiderman costumes. I still have embroidery stuff to do, and a few little things here and there. Can you believe that Michael's has been completely out of black thread in Arizona and Cincinnati? Ridiculous.

So, this costume is basically finished. Due to sizing issues with this, I'll probably re do it without painting the red hexagons. It'll just be a side project from my daredevil costume, and won't have it's own thread. I know you're getting tired of this. xD I had to add more velcro after these pictures to keep the boots up, so that's worked out. I'm also just going to remove the extra seam lines and paint them in. I'll have much better pictures after colossalcon, with is June 4th. Super soon. Hope you guys like it. :D

Once again dude, wow. Wish I had your skills. And btw I dont know if there's one in your area but Academy sports+outdoors has aquasocks for 5 bucks (so theyre probably made cheaply) and you might be able to find em online

So, Thread Revival kind of.

My upcoming huge convention starts on June 4th. And I'm about to attempt the impossible. I, Chase Calloway, am going to make another Spiderman Costume in these 14 days. I'm going to try my best at least. Now, why would I do that? Well, this costume is great, yeah, but there are a lot of sizing issues. It's way too tight. I'm still figuring out the zipper but it's personally hard to do, so for this new one I'm going back to the back zipper I did on my Black Widow Spiderman build. Looking back it was actually very genius, I just messed it up back then because I painted on it, like a dummy. Of course, This new costume also won't be all painted and whatever as this main one. So it'll have a strong Amazing Spiderman 2 vibe, where the blue has a pattern but the red only has webs. I've found my personal liking of dark red shiny spandex so hopefully all goes well.
Here's a kind of drawing thing. It'll look very similar to this one, of course. It's supposed to be the classic type costume.

The gloves, boots, and mask will all be removable on this one too. Not quite a seven piece suit, but close.
So, what will I do with the one this thread is all about? Here's a hint.

A little post sinister six spiderman. I figure I haven't made a battle damaged suit in forever, so it'd be cool to do it to this one instead of just putting it away forever. Now, I won't actually be cutting it or anything. I don't want to ruin the fabrics integrity. Instead of Rami weathered, think Webb.

So, what if I don't finish it in time for the convention? I'll just finish when I get back. duh. Come on guys. Lets hope this works out.

Just got done fighting the sinister 6. Wounds are rather easy to make. Just paint on a raised black outline for it. Paint in some red. Then when all of that is dry smudge it with matte black paint and put a few more droplets of fresh red.

HAHAHA. Oh man, I messed up hard. I tried to rush this costume for the convention tomorrow, and it is not working out AT ALL. Here are pictures of the failed attempt. Now, of course I'll keep working until the it's finished, but it won't be done by tomorrow.

I messed up the spider a lot, and the webs are too big. The spandex is just normal and pretty matte. So maybe all of these factors contributed to how the costume looks so... cheap. I'm just trying to figure this out. It won't be done in time for the convention, but I want to finish it because it's bothering me so much.

I meannn I know us Spidey cosplayers are a bit of perfectionists and I know it doesn't look like the way you envisioned, but here's my advice.... You'll get there buddy, in my opinion I don't think people at the convention are gonna notice, think of it like a test run yenno; people will obviously like the design but if you tell him there's more then they'll be AMAZED. This is my opinion but it looks freakin' awesome. [emoji4]

What kind of zipper do you use for the crotch? If you use one at all. Im trying to figure out which one works the best and doesnt look weird...

Just an invisible one that goes off to the side.

I CANT QUITE LET THIS THREAD DIE YET.
So, I stitched up yet another Spiderman costume. Just trying to get a good classic costume I got the chest spider much much better this time. I had more success with the application and my latex is more solid this time, whereas last time it was very wet, which made it spread out more. And I'll be painting it like the amazing spiderman. Just having webs doesn't look right to me. :p I don't know why. Perhaps it's because this fabric isn't all shiny and screen printed. Either way, this is happening.

For the lenses, I actually bought a motorcycle visor. Pretty cool. ;) It's silver, mirrored, anti scratch, and anti fog. Anti fog being the greatest benefit, for my masks fog up constantly even with defogging spray.

Absolutely gorgeous. I love seeing how you've refined your techniques and keep improving and adjusting them.
