Dang it, Howlrunner!!!! Now, you're getting me thinking of doing one of these myself. I don't need another project, but this looks like so much fun....grrrrrr.

Man, I never realized how busy Indy was! :confused

Thanks for the positive feedback everyone. :)

Wow that looks great, wonderful job! I love the aging you've done in some of those photos.

All of the stuck in pieces of paper are aged just using varying quantities of tea or coffee to age the paper before the images are printed on. I'm taking pics with flash, so not all of the weathering shows up.

Were did you get the blank book from?

I got the book from eBay after a lot of searching - I wanted a nice leather cover and pages that would look old without weathering (or at least not be white in colour). The below is a live auction, but the Seller has over 60 listed as available for Buy It Now, so I'm sure posting this should be OK:

That is a NICE book! :love:thumbsup
Whould love to get me one of those one day in the future.
Now stain it with Coffe and tea to weather it old. :D Some olive oil can also do good staines panina colors.

Test on similar paper first and you se they turn out great once dried.

Awesome job on the journal! A lot of hard work went into that!

I tried to stain another journal before I bought this one - basically I ruined it by trying to do all the pages while still bound. I know it would look better if the journal pages themselves were weathered more, but I'll probably leave it as is for fear of wrecking what I've done so far.

OK, update time. I'm finished the latest book, so here's Indiana Jones and the Unicorn's Legacy. :)

The staff was interesting to draw - there's no visual references in existance (at least that I've come across - the alicorn on the front cover of the novel is nothing like the one described in the book). There's only the written description in the novel (which is taken from an actual description of one of the 2 alicorns that were housed in St Marks cathedral, Venice from 1488 until they disappeared sometime about the mid 1500's), so I worked with that and pics of real Hittite-era double-headed eagle emblems.

And of course, my own alicorn. ;)

Next up will be Indiana Jones and the Interior World - set, I believe, mainly on Easter Island, so lots of cool designs to draw.

It does look better each time, have you worked out how many pages the complete book will take you?

I seem to be averaging about 12 sides per novel at the moment (so 6 pages, front and back). I've got 25 adventures still to go, so probably about (25 x 12) 300 sides or 150 pages (front and back). But I'm just doing it as I go - if I fill this journal, I'll just start another.

Wow, great work! I wouldn't mind picking up a copy of this if you decide to do a future run!

Re: Indiana Jones Diary WIP - 1920-1957 - Unicorn's Legacy completed

The more I see this the more the urge to do a journal like this increases, must resist, to do list is way too long as it is!

Thanks, but this will be a strictly one off as it's all handwritten and drawn. To reproduce it would mean having to undo all the binding to lay the pages flat to scan them, and that would wreck it.

I'm currently working on the Easter Island section of the journal - this book is going to have LOADS of cool stuff to draw. :)

Re: Indiana Jones Diary WIP - 1920-1957 - Unicorn's Legacy completed

Well, of the 6 Indy books that I've read so far, this is definitely my least favourite. While there ARE a lot of cool things to draw, the story is just too fantastical to fit with the rest of the Indy adventures; one mystical/mythical thing per adventure is acceptable, but this book has Indy travel inside the earth and encounter unicorns, giants, dragons, dinosaurs, a sentient maze, a frof with a human head, a demon, indians that can change into jaguars and people that can make themselves look exactly like other people - there's too much!

Anyways, here are the completed entries for Indiana Jones and the Interior World:

Hmm... I really should check those Indy novels out, huh? Now, I'm really curious about them.
