Indiana Jones 5 officially announced

I have to say, the way these threads evolve is often hilarious.

For example, checking in on this thread, this morning, and finding that the topic of Dial “D” For Destiny has veered off into the topic of….Frasier??

You mean this guy????

Frasier was a huge risk back then and it paid off and your point is taken but again, had the RPF been around then and everyone was trying to do what they did with Cheers as far as a spinoff goes, they would have failed miserably and the talk on the forums about the stupidity of it would have been well justified. Maybe not welcomed, but justified nonetheless.
Fair point.
No… the best is that Mork made his appearance in the thread.

Let's remember that Mork and Mindy was not just a spin-off, it was a spin-off of a spin-off.

Love American Style was the source of Happy Days. Mork and Mindy was a spinoff of that. Laverne and Shirley was a spin-off of Happy Days as well.

"Daniel-san, when do right, no can defense!"

And let us not forget that Mork made an appearance on Lavern & Shirley, which was a spinoff of Happy Days. So Mork and Mindy was a spinoff, of a spinoff, that also appeared on another spinoff, before he got his own show. <insets head scratch here> :lol:

how about Hawk from Spencer for Hire? I get your points, they are valid...just wondering how well they all did and how many of us are going back to watch Mork and Mindy and Laverne and Shirley these days? Lenny and Squiggy were hilarious!! BTW

"Daniel-san, when do right, no can defense!". Means: when you get it right, you are assured success.

To get it right, spin-off characters must be handled correctly and the stories must be written well, just as in any story. In any instance of storytelling, a theme and a backstory must be created to give the story weight and depth.

Starting from an established story as a jumping-off point can facilitate a much more developed story, since many preliminary items are already established and accounted for.

There is always an exception of course, and that is a comedic sitcom and the show was called Cheers, not the Adventures of Woody...How come there wasn't spin-offs called Norm...Cliff...Woody...Carla...? For a fictional movie we don't need to exhaust every piece of the puzzle especially when the movie is about a person...Indiana Jones. I agree that Frasier was well developed enough during Cheers to be used in his own show but for Indiana Jones to have a spin off called Garth...Marcus or Marion? The ends don't justify the means. Is there a spin off to Frasier? No, because the show is about him.
The concept of Cheers was inspired by Taxi. The original idea was to have Jim's Mario's as a central hub for all the stories. Somehow that idea got converted to a whole new show.

Kind of like Alien Resurrection was retooled into Firefly.

oh i get it but i don't find an equivalency to a spinoff to a movie...Indiana Jones had a series but it was still Indiana Jones. IDK, i can be dense i guess...lol

Spin-off to a movie? Hmmm. How about SWAT?

Swat was a spin-off of The Rookies. I don't remember which show The Rookies was a spin-off from. I tend to think it was Adam-12, but it could have been something else.

Too many spin-offs and crossovers to remember them all.

“Too Many Spin-offs”?

Look at All in the Family. From that show, we got:

Maude
Good Times
The Jeffersons
Archie Bunker’s Place
Checking In
Gloria
704 Hauser

Edward Furlong was a perfect John Connor at 13yo (and playing about 11yo). Furlong playing John Connor as an adult? Umm, that's a different story.

Why, he looks like the future leader of humanity to me; a man of action who will defeat an evil, all-powerful AI and save us all…

Everywhere disney promotes Indy they're using the "June 30th" date. I didn't look up when it will premiere here in Sweden, until now. June 28th, two days before the US.

Really peculiar if you ask me. But back in 1999, when I was looking forward to the Episode 1 premiere in May. We in Sweden had to effin wait until effin August. (The anger is still very strong and very alive:lol:)

All i'm going to say is ...Rey 2.0 . Don't be surprised if the next Star Wars movie teams up Daisy and Phoebe( The new Luke and Han for this generation). Just as Harrison Ford was in both Star Wars and Indy, Lucasfilm is sure to even retcon that too in the person of Phoebe Waller-Bridge. It can't get any worse right?...Wrong. You all ready for The daughter of Qi'ra and Han Solo to show up? lol...I'm just having fun now. All English...all Female...And America loves english actors and actresses. Remember when Han asked Rey where she was from? then goes..hmm. Was he expecting to run into somebody? Did he know that him and Qi'ra had a child from a rendevous? It turned out not to be Rey but...Is there another? I'm not a prophet and this is no prophecy but...I got a bad feeling about this...lol.

No joke, I could see it happening.

KK is not gonna change her ways. LFL will stay directly on this same course until they replace her.
