Indiana Jones 5 officially announced

Just a random fact I read.

The cracking sound a whip makes is the result of the energy of loop traveling from the thicker part (by the handle) to the tip. It picks up enough speed to break the sound barrier, creating the cracking sound which is a sonic boom. The whip is the oldest human invention to break the sound barrier. That just makes Indiana Jones even cooler.

I'm curious to see where the Rotten Tomatoes percentage will end up, the new round of reviews is more positive, if still mixed. Once the run of the mill critics see it, I wonder if it makes it to fresh? Its only 5% away.

I think they've completely outed themselves as being in the film studios' pockets. They have repeatedly heaped praise on complete dumpster fire movies that have single digit audience scores.

Yeah, the MSM critics seem to be mostly sold out now. If Disney wants a good review then they will get it no matter how crappy the show is.

I don't know, the gulf between the professional critic and what average people like keeps getting wider. I was thinking that one the local papers critics see it we might get a more realistic assessment.

Leaks you say? I haven't seen or heard any yet. But, I'd love to.

They've been all over the internet. Most will tell you that they come from clickbait YouTubers but that doesn't change the fact that the reporting has been accurate. Now that the movie had its US premiere those leaks have aligned with the plot of the film.

I tend to find that the aggregated audience score is the true measure of a film’s reception.

All audience and not just verified audience right?

Right?

I got to see the film last week. I didn't love it and I didn't hate it. Sadly, it was just "okay".
I didn't read any online reviews or see any leaks before I saw it, so I can't comment on what they might have said about it, but I will say that one of the things that bothered me the most about it was that Disney is determined to make the characters that they bought from Lucas, sad, shadow versions of the characters that we grew up loving and cheering for. Disney did it with Star Wars and now they have done it will Indiana Jones. This is not the Indy we knew from the last 4 movies. Even when he is out on his adventure, it just doesn't seem like the old Indy. And it's not due to Ford's acting. It;s due to what he has to work with.
I will say that most of the people I saw the film with (press members) liked the film and gave it a thumbs up. But I think it's sad that this is the film that they will end the franchise with.
