Indiana Jones 5 officially announced

I saw a video today titled "Kathleen Kennedy: Destroyer of Franchises!" I think it's partly her fault and partly whoever is hiring the writers.

I won't be seeing this or any SW movies in the theater. Make some great movies and you'll get my money, but I haven't seen a Lucasfilm movie in the theater since Rogue One.

I'll probably see Indy 5 in the theater. The trick is just go in expecting a really bad movie, so you either leave the theater already knowing it, or perhaps you find something you liked and are surprised.
There were plenty of parts I did like about Crystal Skull. Plenty dumb parts of course, but, whatever. I was never a big fan of Doom either, even though it did fit Indy better. First and third will always be my favorite, with the third being the top.
The Indy movies have always had some kind of visual effect, but it was far less back in the 80s. Maybe just some part at the end, at least that was an obvious effect, but it worked.
I think far to many movies are trying to cram in these huge insane type action shots, but they are so completely obvious as an effect, that it takes away from the movie.
I read that someone who has seen this new Indy said there are just way too many fake stunt type shots like that.
I wish they had stuck to the more traditional real stunts.
I've seen so little, I still don't know the context of a younger Indy. From the trailer, it does look good, so if some parts need that for the story, just have ONLY that.
Who knows, its hard to please everyone, but still, Disney is having a hard time pleasing anyone at this point. (like 5% of people)

And when you consider that Temple of Doom was a PREQUEL to Raiders, it makes even less sense.

As for the Young Indy in the first half hour of the film... I agree, at that point why not just make an entire movie with a Young Indy?!

I love Temple of Doom. It's dark, violent and right in line with the pulp adventure serials and novels that inspired it. Some of the tropes are more glaring in today's light, but overall it's a damn fun movie with Indy being a total badass. And Short Round is a great sidekick. Mola Ram is also terrifying as a villain, even to this day. He's truly frightening.

Probably another reason with Doom for me in that it has always made me feel uneasy, something awkward about it. I think back in the early 90s, our family had gotten our first VCR, and my Dad saw the Indy Trilogy for sale and bought it. We had only seen the first and third movie and were fine for the most part. Was raised in a Christian home, so my Mom didn't care for the whole face melting scene and all, but over all, she liked the movie....but when the family, myself around 10, give or take a year, and my brother being only 5 or 6...get to that totally unexpected heart pulling out scene. Yeah was a bit much for us, wasn't used to stuff like that. I did finish the movie with my Dad, but my Mom immediately took my brother out for a long walk. She told my Dad, you get rid of that tape NOW. Hes normally very much the boss of the house, but on that occasion, he listened.
I don't think I saw Doom again til about 2008, to which it wasn't near as bad....but those weird memories still being there, I think I just still found it too dark for myself.
I didn't watch a movie like Robocop til I was an adult, and I found it to be a great movie. Its gory, although not as dark like Doom. It also has that comic value as well.
So Doom isn't a bad movie, just one I'm not as big a fan over because of that past. Now that I think about it, I had tried watching Robocop 2 when I was a teenage, but it gave me that weird odd feeling thats a bit hard to explain. Things like that probably have to do with things we were going through in life at the time that we can't even remember, or much of.
So anyways, hoping theres SOMETHING to at least enjoy about the new Indy film. Guess theres always the Mario movie to watch again....and it has a rotten rating, despite bringing in over a billion so far....funny how that works.

I've always loved Temple of Doom. But it is dark. (And if you're like me and want to get into the details, and the lore. And you start asking questions, like. 'Wait, where does Mola Ram get his power from?... And the answers you arrive while taking shower, are freaky, lol)

And growing up in a Christian home, my mother and father weren't crazy about the Voodoo doll. But with that said, my mother and I both really enjoy the music, and Short Round.

But I think my favorite is The Last Crusade. The dynamic between Harrison and Sean, is perfect. Plus it's based on Medieval legends. What more could you ask for?

Same as you, I was raised in Christian home. Looking back, I'm really surprised my parents let me watch Temple of Doom. Sure the other two were scary. But you know, it was power of God and all.... But Temple, gets into weird kinda occult like territory....

Exactly. Plus, going in watching it without knowing what was in it sure didn't help, as well as that PG rating. Looking on line now, looks like they've never changed it to PG-13. Kinda surprised with that.

Henry Sr. and Junior were fantastic together and one of my favorite scenes in that entire movie is the quiet drink they have on the Zepplin where you get some insight into their relationship. Connery and Ford's chemistry is undeniable!
I think thats one of my reasons for liking that one the most. Some of the best on screen chemistry ever. Its too bad they COULDN'T (just realized I accidentally put, could) get Connery for Crystal Skull. He probably read the scrip and said, nahhh. But with better writing and their already good chemistry, it would have at least made it better for sure.

Yeah. As I recall Temple of Doom was one of the reasons the PG-13 rating was created. I know The Last Crusade got that rating.

Yep. I was just reading about that the other day. Spielberg himself actually went to the ratings board over Temple of Doom and said, "its not bad enough to be R, but its too dark to be PG. Maybe we should have something like a PG-13 or PG-14 rating."
Thankfully they listened.

I won’t lie, I’ll be seeing this new Indy movie and am fully prepared for it to suck on an epic scale—and I also fully expect that to be the case…

But, I have to see it for myself.

I guess Harrison Ford also likes not being a great father as well. He admits he cheated on his first two wives (Not a good father) and all three of his most famous characters are now horrible, and or absentee dads. Life imitating art.

Ah, so The Force Awakens, Blade Runner II: Electric Boogaloo, and Dial “D” For Destiny may be referred to as “The Deadbeat Dad Trilogy”?

I also wonder. Part 1 had Snakes, 2 was bugs, 3 was rats, 4.was giant ants.
So you expect they would have some kind of scene with an animal of some kinda.
Wonder what. How about CGI sharks???
That seems to be the cool Hollywood thing going right now. (I really hope NOT)

And with that, theres also the kind of gruesome scene. Head melting/exploding, heart pulling, quick old age dying, and getting to much info dying?....I guess. 4 was the least gruesome by far. CGI never looked as disgusting in that was as practical effects. I wonder if they will at least keep with the tradition of something like that happening.
Maybe Indy is forced to look in the ark and his face melts, therefore having to end it. Lol.

I liked the 2nd Blade Runner, but I did feel a few parts could have been cut. Having only seen it once, I now don't even remember what they were.
I did read that Ridley Scott thought it was a bit too long, and he was like, "And I wrote the thing."
Hoping Indy 5 doesn't drag on too long just for the sake of showing off more CGI scenes.
