Those LOTR dvds (along with Adam Savage's TED Talk) got me into prop building in the first place. Looooove ILM's work over the years, but Weta has my vote hands down. Not that there's ever gonna be a 'winner' (nor should there be, they're both amazing companies who do great work) in this whole thing but whenever I get a chance to extol Weta's virtues, I'll do it.

Weta Digital worked on D9 but not the Aliens. Image Engine did the Alien effects.

Weta Digital did the Dropship and Mothership. Another company did the Exo-Suit.
