Lord of the Rings Triple Review (UC Shards, MC Glamdring, Weta One Ring)

To be fair, so long as you do non-contact swinging, the mc glamdring should hold up fine. If you decide to do sme cutting however, then all bets are off.

Nah, nah; this one will remain pristine on my wall for years to come. And the occasional invisible Orc battle, of course. :lol

EDIT: Whoa, wait - you have a MSSC sword? You lucky dude. Please feel free to post any photos you have here. I always like to drool over those swords. It was actually the MSSC version that made me fall in love with Glamdring to begin with.

Ah fantastic especially about the ring. There are SO MANY out there I have never bought one in case a better (and affordable) variation comes out. I have the Weta Bag End on its way and might choose the Ring as my next Weta purchase! Thanks for these reviews.

This one's basically the ultimate replica for the price, I'd say. It looks and feels the part, and if you can ignore the lettering on the inside (like I've done), it's a wonderful piece.

I'm still on the fence about the Weta One Ring as well. Not sure if this one is better or the replica at F-Boutique is better.

This one is more dimensionally accurate - it's darn near perfect, except for the trademarking on the inside. If you'd like to see more photos, or have any questions, feel free to ask.

@Lunaman - is that your brass Glamdring too? That's an amazing sword! Thanks, as always, for the intelligent and thoughtful post - your historical insight is incredible. I never knew that about how pommels were attached - I always kinda wondered - and now I know. LOL. Thanks for the comment!

Unfortunately it is not mine, though I keep telling Brendan I'll commission one eventually when I have a couple grand to spare. :lol I agree that it's amazing.
I fulfill my Glamdring-type fix with one of these, instead.

Welcome, and thanks for the kind words!

This is an awesome thread, thank you for posting your reviews! Does anyone have an "under the hood" for the normal wall hangers from UC (like sting, for instance) ?

Killer thread and just awesome awesome photos and review. Thank you for posting this. I have really wanted a Glamdring but with the kids in the house I am uncomfortable having a real sword. I wish I could get a replica made that was resin or plastic. :lol

Anyway, just an awesome thread and thank you again for sharing!

I'm not sure if there is an appropriate place to ask this question but I am considering making a display case for my MC Glamdring when it arrives and I thought it would be neat if I could get the sword to glow blue (unlike the movie, Glamdring was supposed to glow blue when Orcs and Goblines were around, just like Sting.)

I'm thinking of displaying Glamdring point down and having a concealed black light shining up on it. Fluorescent dyes are added to oil to show leaks in engines and I am wondering if anyone has any experience with the dyes and could tell me if it is feasible to use them for this application. I've done some searching and found some oil based clear dyes that glow blue under blacklight that sound perfect.

Thanks in advance.
