I LOVE Burlington!! New Pics[heavy]! 6-12

Re: I LOVE Burlington Coat Factory!! mini updates!

Im so jealous. being the size that I am, theres only so many costumes I can pull off, and that number is few. Vader, Batman and a very few others. I wish I could make a convincing Indy, especially cuz I live so close to two BCF's.

Re: I LOVE Burlington Coat Factory!! mini updates!

Well I just got back from our local BCF...Nada, nothing zip. Oh sure, they had hats just not THE hats! :cry

Re: I LOVE Burlington Coat Factory!! mini updates!

Funky Jedi,

the particular hat that I got has the brand name of "lite felt"
It didn't have a model number... but a google search led me to find that the "lite felt" hats were made by Shushan
Upon further browsing I found my hat.

I'm certain that the one I found was style # 551
seen here, in the original shape.

Re: I LOVE Burlington Coat Factory!! mini updates!

Okay, so I bought the faux leather material for my jacket on Saturday, started drafting the patterns for my jacket last night, And started sewing this morning.
Here's what I've got so far :)
Still have to add pockets, zipper, and clean up all the edges/trim.

Great job so far!;)
It's really coming up nicely!
Keep up the good work!

Re: I LOVE Burlington Coat Factory!! mini updates!

Tsuyosa....you never fail to amaze me with your talents!!!! We may just have to have you make a real leather one for all of us Indy types! Being that we will purchase the leather and pay you some type of fee!

Look out Wested.......Todd's........Magnoli.......US Wings..........Tsuyosa Brand Indy Jackets!

Re: I LOVE Burlington Coat Factory!! mini updates!

Lol, you guys give me too much credit! If you only saw the 'Inside' of the jacket! 8O
The outside is looking good though.
here's some natural light,
also.... I got my S&W thanks to CJS' tip :D

I still have to add pockets, zipper, and finish the bottom edges :)
But otherwise, the shape and fit of the jacket is completed!
(unless I decide to take the sleeves in a bit, what do you guys think?)

Re: I LOVE Burlington Coat Factory!! mini updates!

Well, is coming along really well!:D

If you could do it in real leather I'll buy one!;) :D

Re: I LOVE Burlington Coat Factory!! mini updates!

Really starting to feel the 'bad-ass' bug now :D
I was unhappy with my fedora from before. I think it might have been to small, or the fact that the ribbon was also brown, but either way I went back to BCF today and found another fedora in a bigger size w/ proper color scheme. Purchased it, and started modding in the car on the way home, haha.
My Smith & Wesson ("FBI Issue") revolver also came in the mail today. It is SO NICE. I'm absolutely loving it. I might steal one of the little CO2 canisters from work tomorrow to see how it works

Just some minor tweaks to make... I'm getting ancy to have my bull-whip finished! O_O

I'm REALLY loving this jacket... I'm so glad I decided to tackle it myself. Not to mention, custom fit ^_^.

Until I figure out the lining... Maybe I'll consider doing a run then :p
Though, to be honest, the price of leather would make it just as expensive as a Todds' jacket... so you can pick-and-choose there. Todd's is probably much higher quality.

Other than tweaks+ Gasmask bag+ Whip: It's fundamentally done now :D

Damn, that was fast! And with a nice result too!:D

Re: I LOVE Burlington Coat Factory!! mini updates!

Ok, here's a better shot of the jacket that I made:
Left: outside/natural light
Middle: outside/ Flash
Right: Inside/Flash
Jacket.jpg

The material that I used to *MAKE* the jacket is positioned between the collar to see color/wethering difference.
I used 3 different spray paints and a brush... I'll be doing more to it to make it appear a bit more beat up and "scratched"... but for now it's looking more like a natural material at least :)

Re: I LOVE Burlington Coat Factory!! mini updates!

It looks more natural indeed... You just need to "dull" it up a bit and add some "dust" to it, and you are set!;)

Great job!

Re: I LOVE Burlington Coat Factory!! mini updates!

How do I go about adding "dust" to a jacket that isn't made of real leather?

Hm.... I wonder

Yeah, I plan on making the wethereing a bit more intense tomorrow.
Would've liked to finish today, but bad weather interfered with my wethering... lol!

Re: I LOVE Burlington Coat Factory!! mini updates!

That is irony!:D

You can dust your jacket with fueller's earth, or keep going with your weathering technique until it loses his "shine"... That could work;)

Re: I LOVE Burlington!! NEAR FINISHED

That is so stinking awesome. I think it is so cool that you're doing this jacket...making my own was a thought that never crossed my mind! Lookin' really good!

Re: I LOVE Burlington!! NEAR FINISHED

Well, aside from my whip: (which is 75% complete according to the maker)
I'm calling this DONE (for the time being)
I have all the pieces to make the costume recognizable, and everything has been wethered to suit.

Once I get the whip In, I'll go outside to a local art facility (mayan inspired architecture) and get my brother to snap some 'good pictures' :)
