Hell of a find! My Potter trunk is one of my favorite pieces in the collection. I think the condition of yours looks pretty damn good actually. Just natural aging.

unfortunately, it is quite a bit worse than the first couple of pics show - one of the leather hinges is broken, one metal band is missing and some other parts bent, the wood is cracked in one spot (on the bottom) and it must have been stored in an outdoor shed for a long while as mice got at the canvas at the back so it's loose and missing a few large chunks. Paper lining was a total write off - had to scrape it all out and disinfect before daring to bring it indoors! Still I'm happy - the important stuff like the handles and locks are still there, and I can disguise the worst damage and strategically clean it up instead of completely restoring it. Got to keep that charm!

Also, what color paints have you used to achieve such a realistic stone effect on the fireplace, if I may ask?

Duvel beer. I searched and saw someone in the paper props thread recommended it as a match - it works!
