Excited and looking forward to for our this years trip to Epic Universe we were in the mood to create a new magical display.
After we bought a screen accurate replica of a visitor pass for Ministry of Magic we did some brainstorming.
So… How we can present this awsome collector piece? The brainstorming and looking some previews at youtube from Epic Universe. It was clear we need „Métro Floo“ and for sure we need THAT tiles. Biggest issue was that this tiles were created in paper gor the movies because real tiles would have been to complicated and expensive for the filmset. So we do our own tiles in paper? A lot of complicated work. So we did further research and really found small tiles in same style like the one from Ministry of Magic. After checking we found cause of smaller size they even matching better at the display… YES!!!!
In next step we ordered this really expensive glass tiles. Now we milled the display on our CNC in real oak. Next step we installed this wonderful LED strips matching the green color of Métro Floo. Also we installed a dimmer in order to control the light intensity of this display. In last step we organized black fabric matching to the robes from Harry Potter and a matching Gryffindor badge from Universal.
Also we created a 3D logo following the previews from Epic Universe. Next step it was printed in resin and painted in gold.
Finished we milled an acrylic cover to save the display from dust.
In later stage we plan to install a small fog machine for further „Métro Floo“ show effect…
