Thanks Jerry, its starting to look OK now, still have to stop myself on the weathering, its a tricky balance to make her look clean like Red Leader, yet still a bit banged up.
Ill try work on getting the rest of the weather job done today and painting in all the tiny black squares seen on the surface of the prop.
Some areas are weather via speckling, flicking paint from a toothbrush, it seems to work well and gives a rough studio appearance.
Ive bagged a harrier pilot from a buddy, so ill be putting him in now and painting the R2 red/white as seen on the screen.

Heres the lesser seen side, keep forgetting to shoot it lol, Hopefully the next btach of updates will be the completed ones.

This is the coolest SS X-Wing model I have ever seen....
I wish I could have a hero kit built and painted like this one...
Great Great Job....
:thumbsup

hey Lee, ya know what would be cool? if you werent gonna light up the r2 unit, you can drill out the lenses a bit and paint the insides a metallic color and then use some 5min clear epoxy to create the lense.
just an idea i was gonna use on mine.

Im not lighting the R2 Jerry, im lighting non of the kit as it goes. Sounds a good idea for the scale model look though.
I may add the fibre optic cable to the cannon tips, even if its non functional on mine, at least that effect is there.

Not far off now, got the guns fitted (please dont mention the crooked one, its a sore point lol)
Just have to decide on the harrier pilot, few more little bits of detail to do and hopefully the next pics will be completed ones.
Was playing with the bluescreen thing too, need some practice at taking pics lol.

Still waiting on an MR style case (should be with me soon) but the collection is small but growing.
Still gotta get my Red Jammer Y wing on this racking yet.

You've done an excellent job of replicating a really bad ILM paint job is all I can say.

Great photos :D

Hey Lee, got any pics of the underside??
Yeah, a stupid request, just wondering if it has a clean undercarriage.

Thanks Flint :) Jerry ill take some, the underside had to be just a simple idealise overall, but the effect fits, i think the pic i followed to do the underside was one of the pyro prop.
This model has a masked off large area under the hull to which ILM just seemed to blast with the airbrush in black fade.
I took that idea and did the same, just a lot fainter. I never did go too far with this model, as i didnt want to idealise too much, i didnt want a model X wing, i wanted as close a prop replica as i could acheive.
