Headgoonie Back to the Future 40th Anniversary Denim Jacket

Something about the overall shape looks off to me. Here is a comparison of my Sears jacket to London's work. Which is based off of his Guess vest.

At this point in time it will be fitting if they also worked on the red vest and the white and black plaid shirt. They made other screen accurate shirts with Doc Brown’s character in the past, it’s surprising that they haven’t made Marty’s plaid white and black shirt.

For the Oxford denim, it would be nice if Miki sent us a photo via his IG story of the updated denim pieces dye before construction of the jacket so most of us can confirm that the dye is correct before assembly. I would assume that this portion of the jacket is the most tedious part of getting right.

Magnoli's vest should be perfect, and Max Cady makes a really decent Shah Safari shirt.

Is Magnoli working on another denim jacket? And does anyone have the Magnoli red vest? If you do, how accurate is the red on natural lighting?

Their new patterns are based off of my project. I sent in a genuine Guess vest in the right style for them to take measurements from and interpret into a jacket. Mine will be the first proof of concept. However I sent them Guess fabrics from various items I collected so it would look right. They do not have access to such fabrics on their own. I sent them a real Class-5 vest too to reverse engineer so the shape of it will be perfect but once again my order will be the first one of its kind. Just have to wait until they are finished.

For sure, thanks for the clarification. Did magnoli give an estimate time stamp of when they should have the first denim jacket and vest prototype sample done?

I was first given an estimate of 7 months when they first got it in May of 2024. However there has been a lot of correspondence and changes and tweaks that have been done that have extended the projected finish date. As of right now I do not know exactly when it will be done. Construction has just begun recently after a fix was done to remove some extra dye that would be showing next to the pockets. I detail everything in my thread about it.

Has Magnoli reached out to you from time to time during the production process?

Would lightly brushing the gray parts with bleach help with fading? Or would that fully bleach it? I know you said that it can turn brown/yellow, too.
That's always a possibility with some fabrics. Turning brown with bleach. Won't know until someone tests it. You also run the risk of the bleach ruining other parts of the jacket. Like the lining and blue parts.

If I decide to order this jacket, I'd be very apprehensive about trying to bleach it myself. Firstly I don't possess that level of skill, but the risk of ruining an expensive purchase would kill me. Based on the images we've got to go on, I think we're all clear there are flaws, and I'm disappointed HG refrained from accepting the invite to join the discussions in this thread (though perhaps they have reviewed them anonymously). I still feel with a little more time, they could have hit gold, but I'm sure they have their reasons for working towards a timeline so specifically. Of the issues that remain, the colour is probably the big one. The fasteners can probably be dented in a DIY fashion, and aside from the keenest of eyes, the rest of the jacket hits enough of the right notes that anyone would recognise it for what it represents. As a straw poll, I'd be interested to hear if you guys will be pulling the trigger on it (albeit no price reveal yet, I don't believe)

Honestly I’m going to wait to see the final product for Magnoli’s new revised denim jacket and vest. Fingers crossed the colors for both and jacket are correct. MitasTouch has been working closely with them on the production.
