I have recently been informed by Headgoonie themselves that they have started working on a 40th anniversary denim jacket. No other information or pictures are available at this time, but throughout 2024 myself and a friend of mine supplied them with pictures and dimensions from his correct color Guess vest to aid them for this new iteration. This thread will be for general discussion and news of this new jacket. Hopefully they take all the notes we gave them and put them to good use.

I suppose it's now Magnoli V. Headgoonie lol
Lol yeah I suppose. Far too early for any comparisons though. Eventually Magnoli Clothiers will update their jacket they have on their website using the new patterns made from my project. As far as I know, the materials will be the same as they are now, but I haven't asked. Headgoonie seems to know where to get a decent fabric match in terms of type and an adequate method of fading it. However they haven't been able to match the color all that well. Hopefully that changes this year with all of the pictures and notes we have given them.

Awesome news, looking forward to the final product. Hopefully they put all your notes to good use and come up with something that solves all past problems. Really hoping the colour, fading, and pattern is nailed this time. Willing to spend a decent amount if they get this right.

Yeah they have been given tons of references and help so there's really no excuse if they get anything drastically wrong. And typical price for a HG jacket is $580ish shipped to the US.

All of these possible issues about the HG make me extremely worried about it coming out wrong. Why exactly can't anyone ask to measure the Hollywood Museum jacket? Would they really decline?

Yes. Both owners of the real jacket in the right colors have stated they will not give out measurments of them. It's unfortunate.

I was informed that they are starting the drawing board for the design this week. There will be a handful of changes including the shape, colors, and fabrics. They are even going to use genuine Selex snaps.

I don't have any details or full context of this image, but it is most definitely the start of new denim fabric trials. That bluish purple sample is the perfect color for the dye. Second image is London's correct color vest. I circled where the dye is concentrated enough to really see the color.

It's like they're intentionally trying to make sure we don't make a 99% accurate replica.
I’ll gladly work with replica makers using my right style wrong color jacket.

EDIT: actually, I’ve been thinking about it. If I know who you are and just use it for your own personal use (no commercial use or passing it to someone who uses it for commercial use), I’ll just give you my pattern made via a tape transfer off of my jacket totally free. Just reach out.

Have you considered working with Headgoonie? They are in the planning stages still for the patterns. Perhaps you could lend them a hand. The language barrier could be a little hard to get passed, but it's not impossible. They have gotten a lot of notes and such from London and myself, but details from a genuine jacket would definitely be useful to them.
