Headgoonie Back to the Future 40th Anniversary Denim Jacket

What Guess piece is this from? Can we see the whole thing?
Sure. You knew what it looks like already, though, lol. Vest is a small, so it looks really wrong.

What are your thoughts on asking HG to join the forum? I believe you have established good contact with them. We speculate so much on here and having the answers direct from the manufacturer would be so handy
I'm not sure they would go for it. It seems they just use Google translate when speaking to me, so getting things across might be difficult.

The 'new' jacket just looks way too blue. Both of the legit images on the right appear far more grey. I actually prefer the 'old' as it stands!

What's really sad, is that I never stopped to consider that they would do anything other than get the finish spot on. With all the support they have been given, particularly by those in this forum, it seems there are still countless issues, the colour of both linings, the denim colour, the poppers the waistband...to name a few, and we're a week away from presale.

Poppers! So you're this guy?

I'll post any updates as soon as I get them. Im sure he is a little overwhelmed with what needs being done.

Yes, were a demanding bunch! He's gonna wanna see a return on his time investment I'm sure. Fabric looks good - just the wrong colour!

I think the color is decent. There's just too much of it. Each little circle on real Guess products doesn't have as much dye going up around it. If that makes sense. There's more white exposed so our eyes pick up on that.

Maybe, I'm not so sure, however you have more experience with the genuine items than me. I'm just thinking the musical uses the Magnolia jacket which is a lot grey, and presumably got the seal of approval from Bob Gale since he overseen the production. Or did he just pick the best of a bad bunch maybe?
Magnoli Clothiers is the only company I know of that can produce the jacket in the quantities needed for such a production with relatively short notice. I'm sure other companies exist, but they were the ones that got the deal. However I don't think Bob Gale really cared about the authenticity or looks of certain costume items. Their work is good, but we all know this jacket has needed so much attention from enthusiasts to even get close to being right.

Found another inaccuracies from their most recent picture. The back snap parts should be silver. Not gold.

Gold here too. Hope it's just an oversight. They showed a pic of the right silver ones before.

There is zero chance that Bob Gale knows more about this jacket than anyone reading or contributing to this thread. Zero.
It's not specifically the finer details of the jacket, but the colour that he would perhaps be more familiar with. None of us on here are able to confirm with any level of certainty whether the HG colouring is close or not (I personally feel its now too blue). As I've said this is a shortcoming of trying to identify on digital devices rather than with pantone's. What we do know however, is the colour of the Magnoli jacket and this is the one Gale and his team have suggested is the most accurate to their requirements. Now if the original movies jacket were obviously very blue in tone, you might think Bob Gale would point out the jacket they used in the movie was grey (or vice versa), in the same way that If Marty showed up on stage wearing a pair of Bruins with a pink swoosh, he'd call that out too, even though he might not necessarily know the specifics of the shoe or model. Anyway, the list of inaccuracies on the jacket is getting longer and longer. At this rate they should have just rereleased the previous version and saved themselves the extra work.

I don't think Bob Gale had any interest in the fine details of the costume department. And stage performances don't have strict costume requirements. As long as it looks decently close to the source material, they are fine with it. I've seen what the color should look like in real life several times when visiting London. If I choose to get this new Headgoonie jacket, I will visit him again and post comparison photos.
