Well now that the new Hawaii 5-0 has aired 1/2 of their Season 1 I am now going to say I am impressed with the episodes. I finally made it through all the Tivo'ed epsiodes and loved each one of them. I like the fact that the writers are now starting to arc back to the first episode. I do hope they do some background stories that get into more character development such as MacGarret in the Navy with the Teams, Dan-o family life, Chin's clashes with IA, and Kono The Academy Years!!!

I'm not too happy with the continuous negative play on the Haole Vs. Hawaiians. This is bad blood in the Islands and truly destroys the already negative outlook of them vs. us view. Hawaii has truly lost that Aloha Spirit that I experienced growing up their since age 2.

Overall I give Hawaii 5-0 a strong 8 out of 10 "No Ka Ois"

Maybe it's me, i dunno. I've seen 2 (mid to late season ep's) and i was 'eh' at best. Seems to not be too much chemistry on the cast. The other thing that bugged me is both episodes had them back at the 'station' or whatever and there is NO ONE in the building but the 4 stars. No support staff, other cops, etc. I know it's a special unit, but there's gotta be some support staff and if not, you don't get the fanciest building in the department.

Dane Cook is playing Danny's brother in an upcoming ep.

Woo...:rolleyes

I'm one of the three people on the planet who don't think that guy is the least bit funny but the show is entertaining. I have to say that it doesn't really feel like it's going anywhere, just seems like Credits - ACTION - End Credits. But it still beats "_____ing with the Stars"

I don't particularly think Dane Cook is that funny, either, but that's sort of neither here nor there. Cap'n Jack said in his initial post that he was interested in them exploring Danny's family life and I offered up that tidbit for him.

I was not impressed from the first show, but forced myself to watch other episodes and I really like the show now. I just had to get past my own old v new attitude. My wife refuses to watch the show, even though I told her it's good. To her, Jack Lord is the only McGarrett, and James MacArthur the only Danno. Her and I, like every other Hawaii local of that generation, grew up on that show. It was a part of our upbringing in the 60's and 70's. It was a huge sense of Hawaii pride and became part of Hawaii culture (weird as it sounds because it's just a TV show).

Yeah, the Haole/local thing gets old, but it's about the only drama you can drum up in Hawaii. It's definitely not as bad now as it was in the 70's and 80's. It was pure hell being a Haole then.

From what I understand, the Aloha Spirit is almost gone in the islands and it sucks big time. At least on Maui, it's because it's turned into another SoCal. I started to see the change in the early 90's when I was bartending part time. Lot's of transients, with no respect of the islands or the locals.

Oh well. what can you do. Time marches on.

Also some of the things I like about the show and find comical are:

1. When McGarrett states that someone criminal has gone missing and now they have to search for said criminal. It is a small rock in the middle of the Pacific! How can you lose someone?

2. Whenever McGarrett and Dano are enroute to some location (back to the office, to a downtown Honolulu crime scene, etc.) they always seem to be driving in areas (cut scenes) that are nowhere close to that vicinity of their final destination. It would be like showing a car driving to Los Angels to San Diego via locales in Tucson or Phoenix!

3. They are running out of real estate. They have done a few shows on the outer islands but they may need to start shooting more often on other islands.

4. Hawaii has now become the central hub of all criminal activity including drug cartels, spies, and ousted political leaders. If only that type of excitement really existed on the Islands!

Unfortunately there is a little truth in this, at least on Maui. The Mexican drug cartel has been trying to gain footing on the island for nearly 20 years. Back in 2002/03, DEA busted several Mexican restaurants that were fronts for black tar heroine sales.

Several homes were also raided and they found the murdered body of a local in a sugarcane field that had the markings of a Mexican hit.

Yes, but as a message about fighting rampant obesity plaguing Americans and Islanders, his name is going to be changed to Lo Fat. It just sends a better message. "No, Please DON'T pass the Poi."

Actually, poi doesn't make you fat. Nothing helps to get my strength higher, or muscles bigger than poi.

As for the show, I'll wait till I'm home from deployment to catch it. Still upset that there were no local actors hired for the principal cast. :thumbsdown

Oh, it's happening more than you know. Sad, really. I love my Hawaii, and it's slowly becoming the mainland.

I like the show. It's fun seeing the McGarrett/Danno husband/wife arguments.

One thing that caught my eye is that Jin from Lost ALWAYS uses a shotgun in the end-of-episode shootout. The only time he doesn't is if he isn't involved in it. I have no idea why I find that awesome and hilarious :lol

Loved the final scene as McGarret asked who are you and response was Wo Fat! That brought back memories of the original series!

Well the fans love the show! Nominated for Peoples Choice for Best New Drama and Caan was nominated for Golden Globe!!! Not bad for a show with only 12 episodes on the books!!!

I enjoy the show for what it is-- crime drama with lots of eye-candy. Beautiful people, girls in bikini's, hi-tech, bad-a$$ car....

But jeez--- enough with the same old tired and worn-out cliche's you've seen on every cop show for the last 40 years!!

I think it would have been a much better show if it wasn't a complete reboot, but actually have the new McGarrett be the son or probably for realism the grandson of Steve McGarrett.

I also keep hoping they'll totally trash that Camero or whatever it is that McGarrett rides around in and bring back the old Lincoln in the garage at least once as his ride.

Also it does seem silly that they are the only 'staff' that seems to be in the new techy HQ or that McGarrett is basically playing his character as John McLain from "Die Hard" all the time regardless of how policemen are supposed to act.

I do enjoy that Danno has to dress him down for it and doesn't give a whit how awesome McGarrett seems to think he is. My least favorite episode so far was the ridiculous hostage on the retired warship thing where Danno had my favorite line. When McGarrett is going to go all Navy Seal with his preposterous rescue plan Danno mocks him "Good luck Aquaman!"

If the scripts don't get better with more realism I don't think interest in the show will last long.

The newest episode is the first one in a long time where I felt the plot was going somewhere beyond the typical "villain of the week" fare we've been fed thus far.

I really hope they keep these badguys around for a long time. It was nice to see Cary Tagawa again but I keep waiting for Mark Dacascos to send them all into Kitchen Stadium.

Magnum, P.I. never failed to uncover somethin'.

Begs the question....Can a Magnum reboot be far behind?

In Monday's episode when they pulled up at the heliport, I half expected to see TC sitting in his old Hughes 500D
