Have we pretty much BUILT Star Wars?

My son asked me if we were going to finish watching Star Wars tonight...

I told him, no - I don't have time; I'm too busy building it in my garage.

Have we pretty much built Star Wars? As a community, how much of the Star Wars universe have we accomplished, and managed to build in our garages?

We've covered Vader, Stormtroopers, Jango and Boba Fett, and Darh Maul. I've seen Han Solo figures, Luke, and Leia, an even good ole' Chewie. Heck one of us even built the Wampa! Our artists have sculpted Old Ben, Yoda, and the Emperor, and Old Darth was available to buy. The droid duo has been done and done well, and we've covered the Tatooine resident Jawas and Tusken Raiders. Poor Greedo and the Rancor and Jabba have even been created by us. And cateorized under completely obscure, one of us has even done the eyestalk of the trash compactor monster! And in the "Whatever... :rolleyes" category, both Jar Jar and Watto were at one time available.

Our group, combined with MR, has nailed just about every hand weapon known to exist in the SW univers. Just about all the sabers have been done, plus every blaster (even some George probably never knew about). Even training weapons - remotes - have been done, and the gaffi sticks of the sand people.

X-Wing models are in abundance, as are the Y-Wings. The Imperial fleet has been handled in studio scale, with the TIE fighter, bomber, and interceptor mastered by our group. The shuttle Tyderium is currently being mastered by one of our own. Even the mighty Death Star(s) are either being built, or are slated to be done. Hoth can be recreated in our living rooms with the MR AT-AT, plus the AT-STs being work on now, along with MR's snow speeder. Heck we have even seen the ion cannon be produced in our midst. Three-foot Star Destroyers, and half-scale blockade runners have been offered by this band, plus of course the various 32" Falcons completed by our members before MR offered their masterpiece.

I think we've even seen a full-scale Skywalker land speeder.

I'm sure the list goes on...

What else have we built?

And...

What haven't we built...?

Very interesting thread, I never thought about this before.
I got some ideas in my mind of characters and such that perhaps hadn't been recreated as statues or something, but then realized that perhaps Kenner and Hasbro have made most of these characters as action figures anyway:lol

Sets seem to be the only thing that comes to mind when thinking about what hasn't been done yet. The bigger something is, unless it's iconic like the Han in Carbonite, the less likely it's been done. Most of us just don't have the room.

I know of one main character costume I have never seen.

At the end of ESB Luke is wearing a weird long lab coat looking thing over his regular Tatooine garb. I've seen costumers make his poncho 'Gilligan' hat from the deleted ANH scenes, but no one that I know of has done this medical frigate lab coat outfit, not even a Hasbro figure.

Also I don't know of anyone who has made a replica of Luke's mechanical hand from this scene.

And...

What haven't we built...?

One word: Jerba.

No toy, no prop replica, no description or pictures in any EU publication. The Bantha Dewback, Kryat Dragon, and scurrier gets all the glory, but the Jerba i shunned. In fact, there are a good many of you reading this who don't even know what the Jerba is! Poor little guy. Maybe Chris Trevas or Steve Sansweet can go digging in the archieves for us and find a picture.

That's a good one. There was a write up just this past month in Star Wars Aficionado about the Jerba, here's the PDF file.

I've always wanted to see a *working* replica of Jabba's hookah, has that ever been done? :cool

I think the absolute height of ridiculousness in the SW prop craze was when MR released the Emperor's cane. It's a stick. For awhile I was thinking of slopping a dab of mayonaisse in a jar and calling it Han Solo's sample. Is there anything we won't make or buy!?

All joking aside, the talent and dedication of we SW fans is always a little bit inspiring.

I could swear that someone was working on the hand a while back..:confused

Anyone ever make a Minok?
I would like to see a 1:1 Bubo, too. :cool

Not having space for things should NEVER be a detriment! Why, to this very day my wife comments on how nice it is having a Jabba the Hutt shaped outline in sickly yellowish paint on our driveway.

Well, her words might be a little different... but that's the idea I'm sure! :)
