Harry Potter free paper props - all movies and more!

Good news! I have the wi-fi's, so incase anyone was worried about missing all the beautiful paper props I make all the time, I wont be completely gone! :lol

Its not really my thread anymore though. It doesnt feel as much like "home" now that it isn't Hinkypunk's Harry Potter thread.

Rob - Yes I've recoverd from my party. Currently I am in Chicago Illinois. I'm ready for my traveling to be over.... I want to go home and sleep in my own bed!

Hinky, what's in a name. All your rpf HP friends are here, your creations are here, you're the driving force, the reason the thread even exists.

I think once you are back and able to access the thread whenever you want for whatever reason you will feel more at home.

Ah Chicago...Chi-town...the Windy City...the Second City...the City of Big Shoulders and green rivers on St patty's day ;). Home of Al Bundy.:lol

best,
bfd

BFD:lol, I'm from northern ireland and even we, the protestants, like St paddies day as much as the next man. (Hell it's just another reason for the Northern Irish to get drunk:sick) But even we think that the whole green river thing is wierd and AWEESOOOOOOOME. Americans take there Irish heritage to the extreme, that's probably one of the best things about them:thumbsup

Having Ancestral Linage to Northern Ireland I can honestly say "finding our home country" means alot to some Americans-thus our heritage and customs does go to the extreme from time to time :lol

I 'made' this Weasley's clock some time ago...I just take the pointers off and put a hole in the middle...Hope You enjoy it

I'm working on putting together a beedle bard book with gold leaf and have started to edit a scan of it. The spine, drawing, and logo on the back have been modified to look more like the one Emma Watson is holding in the promotional photos, as well as a few screen shots from the Deathly Hallows

One big problem with this thread though, is that a lot of people don't know theres 100 free harry potter paper props on page one. I wonder if we can stick that in the title somehow

in the movie the book looks like its bound in a fabric is there someway to etch fabric?

I think it is more of an indent in the fabric/paper rather than etching. Maybe just take something with a flat edge like a screwdriver, put it on the marks and tap it to create indentations into the fabric/paper.

To 'etch' the fabric, you can:
1. print a reverse image
2. Affix the image, image side down, to a piece of plexiglas.
3. Flip the plexi over, so you can see the image through the plexi.
4. Build up the areas where you would like the fabric to be 'etched.' you can use anything that will dry hard, with a consistant level of depth. You can also cut a stencil out of mylar and glue it to the plexi side of your image. Some people even use elmers glue or hot glue. I just don't like their inconsistant level of depth.
5. Once your image is built up enough, seal the entire plexi side with some kind of sealant. It doesn't really matter. Just put it on in even thin layers.
6. Put the built up plate, built up plexi side facing your book cover (already attatched to your book)
7. Apply a lot of even pressure. A book press would be ideal, but two pieces of wood and some heavy duty clamps will suffice.

Hope this helps!

Yep!

But!!!

You can also use a brayer and roll on some ink and actually print while you indent, this way.

Or

Roll on some leafing glue (or whatevz) and apply actual metal leafing in the indentions.

I have a degree in printmaking. The wonderful thing about an art degree, is there are no rules. There is no cheating. There is only method. You basically need a product. You do whatever you have to do to produce that product.

why does everything have to be awesome in this thread? thank you so much for all these beautiful props. Hinkypunk thanks for starting this wonderful thread. you all are very very much talented people. it is great to see pieces from the magical world of harry potter. by the way, i really wonder what pottermore is? can't wait 2 days more.. aghrr patience!!! :)

Is anyone else having problems uploading pictures?? I wanted to add a few pictures of my latest project but I can't get them to attach :confused

I got it to work now. I resized my images and that seemed to do it.

*ecl- love the way Beedle is turning out. I can't wait to see it with the gold leaf on it. I am really taking in what everyone is saying about applying the gold. It has been one thing that I would love to be able to get a handle on doing so, I thank you for all you are doing and sharing your experiences with us :)

Here are pictures of what I have been working on. It is a Weasley Wiz-bang. It is not an exact replica. I had a really hard time finding clear images so I just winged it LOL. Anyway, I am not too happy. I had a really hard time with the colors my printer was printing out. I don't know what I was doing wrong and the color of my tissue was off too :unsure
Oh well, it is just going in my knitting trunk to hold my pencils LOL.
If anyone would like the graphics I would be more than happy to share.

Thanks bfd. I have just a few little things to finish on this project and it will be done. I will take pictures of everything and post here so that you all can see my on again off again project. This years resolution in January was to finish up projects and get them off my crafting table. I will be very happy to cross this one off as finished. :)
