Harry Potter free paper props - all movies and more!

Totally agree, the first page looks fantastic, great work Hinky.

Thanks elfstacy for posting the images, I agree about all the TM's etc, urgh and the extendable ear looks great, a very cute item just watch out for hungry cats.

Not sure if anyones still on at this hour, especially all the old men, they're probably all asleep. For anyone who IS on,
I present to you:
When Muggles Attack!
It looks FANTASTIC! Thanks again Hinky! It really is great, even in real life! I'm thinking about for my donation to Hinky's fonts, since I don't really have much money to give away, is to ebay some of these... Any thoughts? You, hinky, in particular?
Anyway, hope you like the book!

I was seriously considering getting the Harry & Ron Artefact boxes, but from what I've read here (about the quality, and especially customer service), I probably won't bother. Now I can use that money for some other cool things.

It's worth the money if you don't have other replicas you want more, or you could wait till hinky finishes part 2 and get ALL the books professionally made/printed from scratch at a book makers shop.

Edit:ALSO, @hinky, two things. Number one, front page is REALLY coming together, it looks nice. Two, I know your working on spines and backs for books for part two, can I request that a couple books have really thick spines? Like 2-4 inches? I've got some short and stout books that I'd love to use!

Would it be easier for everyone if I made the front cover, back cover and spine as all separate files with a repeating background on the spine so that it can fit larger books if needed? I havent successfully made a book that looks decent yet and im pretty sure my printer is a POS so this is to all of you that are making them and having success with them

Also luke, we arent doing the donations anymore. the fonts are all online for free.

Hi Hinky,

I can only speak for me but I do think that if you made the covers as you mentioned above it would give everyone more flexibilty when they put together their books. When I did your When Muggles Attack book I actually did have to do that and then I had to play with the spine to get the text to fit my book (my book was thinner than your text) and I actually had to cut and paste some more of the background spine to get it to overlap the covers when I glued them on.

I would also like to suggest (and again, this is just what I do when I cover a book) I like to roll the front edges over and glue them to the inside of the book. That way the cover isn't just pasted on the cover with the raw edges to the edges of the book cover. I hope I am making sense LOL.

Does anyone else cover books this way?? Maybe more opinions will help.

I am also attaching some thumbnails of a book I did as a challenge in my craft groupl If you look at the inside picture and you look at the top and side edges of the book you can see where I rolled the front cover over the edges of the book. I also pasted another paper to the inside to cover up my raw edges. It is kind of hard to see because my inside paper is green too. Let me know what you think.

@wooze, that's what I do, but because I don't want to lose any of the art I open the book in ps, make the canvas bigger, and use the eyedropper tool to add a color border that somewhat matches sides of the book cover and fold it over. Also, to make sur the book will fit nicely I make a separate layer for the back, cover, and spine. Then I use content-aware-scale to resize each separate piece to fit my book.

@hinky, while making each a separate file would be more convenient, what I'm asking for is more a height:width ratio. I can resize any of the books, but even with content-aware-scale thing sometimes still look odd.

@terryhimself: Yeah! Or we could send hinky some nice books

Hey Norbert I know that on the Deathly Hallows Part 1 DVD they have an extra feature about the opening that shows both the knight bus and the car or perhaps thats the cut you already have, sorry I couldn't be of more help

I've stitched together the Noble collection DA list elfstacy posted earlier. I tried to size it to closely to the dimensions mentioned as well.

Here is a link to a large file for the Undesirable No. 1 Poster. I found a reasonably larger pic of it on google images and enlarged it, cleaned it up in photoshop, and replaced the Ministry of Magic logo with a more crisp one. The numbers on the very last line might not be totally right as i had to replace it and the original one was hard to read! It's a 2mb file.

Hinky, I agree about the DA list. I will be using yours for the party still. It just has way more character with the background you did.
Ecl, glad you were able to put the 2 parts together. I tried to view the links, but got an error message.
Another off topic thing, does anybody know where I can get sound clips of Moaning Myrtle that I can burn to cd or record with a tape recorder on a loop to play in our bathroom? When I search all I get is the John Williams music for Moaning Myrtle from the soundtrack, but I want her talking.
Edit: Ecl, I used a different browser and could view the DA list. Good job!

HOGWARTS EXPRESS TICKET

I have not seen a good SA version of the Hogwarts Express ticket and judging from the poor quality of the Noble Artifact Boxes, if there is a ticket in one of them it likely won't be very high resolution (done on purpose no doubt by the good people at Noble).

Anyway, I have been working on my own version and have attached a first draft for comments.

I used the version of the ticket in Harry Potter Film Wizardry because it is really close to the screen version. I went with a background photo of gold foil for the gold parts which is probably as close as you can get without gold foiling it.

I made the ticket 3" x 5 3/8" in size which i think is close to the screen version but if anyone knows the actual size please let me know.

It turned out okay except I think the three circles and radiating lines in the middle are too dark or something, they just look off when i printed it.

Maybe someone with a decent printer could print off a copy and let me know how it looks.

NOTE: Moved image to first page under Philosopher's Stone.

Oooh good idea Stacy.. I'm having a party at my apt this weekend in honor of Klancey (the little girl with leukemia) and that would be really neat. Maybe stick a fan in there too so it blows the shower curtain very lightly every few minutes. Can you send to me too James?
