Handmade 1.7m Stargate - "Where there's a will there's an 'or'"

Thanks guys - it's good to hear what you think

'I'ed love to see a gate that size that has both sides finished & was on a small 'gate step' base like how most of the off-world gates were' - yeah, don't give him ideas eh!

Should hopefully be able to do a limited run once we have the mould - we'll keep you posted :)

Oh my word.... I have looked at a lot of stuff here on RPF, but this is one of the only times where my jaw has literally dropped.

Please stay in touch with me if or when you're offering castings. Hopefully we can attach castings end to end to build sections of a gate!

That is some AWSOME work there,, It's especially nice for me to see your construction techniques as later in the year I plan on startin on a full sized gate with full detail, and it was starting to become a bit daunting in my head but this thread has just make me feel like it's more than possible again :D

Keep it up :)

Love Stargate anything, and I would love to have this in my collection :)

any idea of a price yet?

Great job by the way.. Simply Awesome!

Unfortunatly no new pictures just yet, the rubber mould is still drying... I should have a good update Monday, maybe Tuesday.

A full sized gate, thats... ambitious :) good luck though!

Sorry artisanprops we dont know how much it will cost yet, once we have cast one 9th next weekend we should be able to get an idea of how much resin it will take. Glad you like it, I hope it lives up to the quality of the cod piece I bought off you :)

IT WORKED! *relief* :)

Re: Handmade 1.7m Stargate - First Finished 9th signed by Claudia Black!

Just got back from the London Film and ComicCon at Earls Court were we got our first completed 9th signed by Claudia Black.

We have been working our arses off trying to get one 9th finished for this weekend, quite a few late nights! We were worried we had ruined the mould last weekend but luckily the pull was successful.

Im pretty darned pleased with the outcome, learnt alot so hopefully the rest of the gate will be even better.

Hope to get the whole thing done in a few weeks.

looking great, is that a solid or hollow casting ?

man I'm really am jealous, claudia is one actress I really like to meet :love
got some pics of the meet ?

Thanks, its a hollow cast, would be far to heavy otherwise.

Claudia was great; really glad I’ve met her :) hehe. Unfortunately you weren’t allowed to take photos with her whilst signing :( same for Patrick Stewart and Christopher Lloyd.

Update! We have started to cast the 9ths, they havent been sanded or tided up so they dont yet fit perfectly together. However you can get an idea of what it will look like.

I must confess, its looking alot bigger than I originally thought it would be :)

That gate has impressive size, however we decided to go for prop accuracy and correct proportion over scale.

We are casting 9th five tonight... cant wait to get all 9, hope our floors big enough :) We hope to start casting parts of the chevrons this weekend aswell.

Hey, that is AMAZING work guys. It looks ULTRA FAB!!!!

...My jaw keeps dropping lol Love the skills though....

High Regards

Thanks guys!

The paint finish is relatively straightforward. A primer coat followed by a grey blue spray can. Then various shades of grey dappled on to give that almost marble effect the actual prop has, lastly a coat of lacquer to protect it. The blue grey coat along with the lacquer, are dulled quite considerably.

We learnt loads from doing the signed 9th, when we come to painting the rest I’m sure we will change a few things :)
