Han In Carbonite scratch build

Hi, I am glad to finally be able to post my HIC progress with the RPF crowd. I have been working on this for a little over a year now. Its slow going but I want things as accurate as possible as I am scratch building every part of this minus one grebble part I got from Vince :thumbsup Right now, I have just finished making rubber front panels for shipping ease. I am going to focus my attention to the side panels and finally finish them up. I have the frame started and hope to have this complete soon.

My build progress can be seen here: http://s222.photobucket.com/albums/dd30/darthchromer/HIC/

I will post new pic's as they get finished.

I have fiberglass side, top, and bottom panels for mine, but I think the wood would be much easier to work with.

Thanks guys for the good words, its been a fun, all be it, time consuming project :)

Man that looks nice. Where can I get a rubber HIC like that? That rocks!!!!

I have them for sale but I don't have access to the for sale area of the RPF yet, so forgive me, moderator for the mention.
PM me if interested in one.

Yeah, even the Illusive Concept fiberglass piece had pretty warped sides and front panel. The wood should work out great. I will post more pic's of the frame soon.

Wow, great job. How the heck did you make those HIC rubbers?

I would not have an icecube's chance in hell of pulling something like that off... well not being a sculptor. :)

Thanks Missleman, My complete build pic's are here http://s222.photobucket.com/albums/d...thchromer/HIC/

I had to make a mould of my HIC sculpt to have a durable prop piece, because my master had clay, fiberglass and plaster parts so it was pretty delicate.

Thats funny...I just went to the hardware store last night to price materials so I could start mine...(I've had the face cast for years and never gotten around to it)

I'm very happy to finally have this part done. I examined every panel picture out there with a microscope and believe I got the three pocket side of the panel right as I could, without seeing the actual prop. There are no good front on shots of this detail that I could find. I will cast these hollow so they will be ready to accept the back panels with out trimming or cutting to save hassle.

I´ve found this pic in an old Lucasfilm-mag, it was made in the 90ies in the Lucasfilm-archive. Might be interesting ? :confused

I was finally able to make more headway on this project. Very close to painting and finishing. Its time consuming to make every part from scratch and fabricate the electronics was a decent learning curve but way too much fun. I have finally got the seven segment flashing display and pulsing green screen done for the hero control panel. Check out the you tube video.

Fabricating the deep upper and lower recesses. No one really knew how these details looked. I was able to find a picture of them someone had taken at LFL. An awesome clue finally discovered. My three year old added an awesome brown sharpie pinstripe the bottom:) That's my boy!
