Han In Carbonite in Canada - Build thread

Dan,
I see your package has arrived to destination .. good thing! Italy is a long way from home!
- Pockets are sold by bluerealm, you can find his sale thread in the run section with the search.
- Warpcell might still be selling his electronic, they come back from time to time, check the run section too.
- Darthchromer is pretty tough to reach, for that reason, he might not sell anymore his kit, but you can try him.
- Not really no, you'd have to buy a full body and do what you want with it.

To find members, use the Member List link in the header bar. Good luck!

Thanks for the answers, Big! Ever ready to the rescue! Package not recieved yet, but is about to arrive, I am from Spain by the way dont tell me you send it to Italy :O (just kidding, I know you send it well, it arrived to my city and is about to come). About the pockets, you did the wood structure just like the blueprints or you used 90º angles? If you respected the original blueprints the pockets won't fit 'cause I am wondering to do it all at 90º, so a perfect rectangles.
I'll PM when I'll receive the package, just praying the customs won't attack again.
Thanks once more!

lol .. yeah, sorry spain it is! As for the box, it's the Zenix box, so MDF and all like the blueprints too. Meaning all corners are at an angle and pockets are at an angle as well. Bluerealm's pockets are made to fit exactly the blueprints.

If you intend to order from bluerealm, wait to cut your box. When you get them, you will be able to compare against the actual pockets to make sure they fit your box perfectly.

What you see above is finally me having time to get the airbrush out of storage, get all my Tamiya paints, shake them out of their 4 years hibernation and having a shot at the last 2 bits I had to paint!

White, green and a drop of brown. Sealed with Future varnish.

I'll be installing my last greeblies later on the last panel. Finding 2 hours of free time has been pretty hard lately! Now if I can only get to sand and polish my box to paint it!! The gf challenged me to finish the HIC for our Halloween parties! Who knows!

And I'm calling the work on finalizing the panels done (beside decals).

I had to paint 2 more niples and 2 rings .. those got attached to the panels that were missing them.

Then, one other thing that was a pretty big deal to me. The nipples that came with the kit although very close match had a tad too high profile to my taste, and I always knew that at some point, I would shave some plasatic from them. So I got to that tonight.

Got a pair of small pliers, stuck the rivet in them and shaved them down with a file. Then shaved them smooth with a flexible block to give them the look and finished with 1000 grit paper. They're not as shiny as the screen ones, but really close now. Actually, almost perfect to my taste!

Then they got their tail cut with an exacto, as they will go through the machined parts and it won't sit flush. A small drop of super glue on what's left of the tail.

Here's a diff before after my adjustment.

And the final look of it!

About an hour more on this build. It needs to be done and on the wall for my Halloween party in 5 days!!!

I decided to go with magnets as I had them around and never found a use for them. Mounted them at an angle with Epoxy Sculpt which is perfect for that kind of job!

To make sure they would sit flush on my box, I used a small piece of MDF and flattened the supports to shape with the magnets embedded in the paste. Once that was done, I added a styrene flat piece to the MDF to simulate the thickness of the magnet on the MDF and pushed again on my supports. This will insure me that my panels, when both magnets will join together, will sit flush on the MDF.

NOTE that I thought at first that I would use 4 magnets, but it's way overkill and two neodymium is strong enough for the job. Those panels weight virtually nothing except the Hero 1 with all the electronics.

All magnets installed. Glued with E6000 which I had on hand since I'm currently building my Anovos TK kit.

I tried hot glue first and the magnets wouldn't stick to the glue. E6000 fixed that!

Power bar installed under the box, both panels hooked!

First look! Really happy to finally see this happening!!!

Almost done! Can't believe I got this far on my HIC!
Base coat done .. 2 cans of Rustoleum TREMCLAD Aluminium gloss. Took me weeks before deciding to actually use that color. I thought it was too light but couldn't find anything else here in Canada.

And the wash!

For me, that prop had way more brown than black. Anyway, we should never wash with black as in most cases, the contrast is way too strong with any base paint! Dark auburn brown is the way to go!

Seeing somebody doing a HIC always reminds me, that I will never ever have one due to the lack of space :(

Consider me envious!!
