I decided some time ago that we needed to have something to wield threateningly for our next photoshoot, so I had Lopez the Robot Whittler whittle me out one of these too:


I've got a bit more detail work to do (and the barrel assembly to build) before I start making the mold. Stay tuned...

Wow, it's looking really sharp! The only constructive critisism I have is that I feel that the forward part of the "rails" that connect to the lower reciever/top of the barrel, needs to be raised so that the rails are completly parallel. That's my only real critique as everything else looks 100% dead on! Great work as always

You're probably right, but at this point it pretty much is what it's going to be. I'm focusing on the barrel and scope assemblies now.

Wow I gotta say congrats on the EVA helm. I never knew anyone had solved that old problem with the visor. Brilliant job!

And Dave never told me you did either last time he stopped by before he got deployed. Doh, that's what I get for being out of the Halo loop for awhile.

Congrats again man on all your awesome work.

PLEASE OH PLEASE OH PLEASE OH PLEASE BUILD ME A SUIT. I've been wanting to do a Tex costume for a while, and I'm scared as hell to do this on my own. How much would you charge?

As a rule I don't build finished suits since there's no way I can be sure it will fit you. I can be talked into selling you a set of my castings since I've got a thread going in the junkyard right now. If you have any more questions about that, shoot me a PM and we can work something out.

Well, I guess that makes sense. I'm 5'3" so I don't think anything you have would fit me anyway. I just thought I'd give it a shot.

My occasional shop assistant is actually shorter than that and we're building a suit for her too. Stay tuned and you may be in luck when/if I make smaller thighs and torso prototypes.

I didn't think he was smaller than me. How's his mobility with my thigh and shin armor?

mobility is actually pretty good. This was his first time wearing it. Here's a link to a mini convention that just happened. We were in armor for close to 4 hours. he endured it, but sincs it was the armors first real "trooping" he came across some pinching and rubbing issues. All fixed with a bit of trimming. If you all are on the fence about his armor, it is phenomanal! It is actually my favorite kit to wear!

Hey, ive been watching this thread for a while now and just wanted to say that ive been doing my senior project in highschool on special effects and am building a full spartan armor for my "product" and this thread has helped me more than you could ever know, so i just wanted to say thank you!. oh yeah and my the way, your suit is just amazing, its deffinatly the best ive ever seen done. keep up the great work. :eek
