Well the ammo counter kit was $35 and I got the extra light kit for $10 from ThatDecade over on the 405th site

I ment the Adam AR kit, but thats a good price for the additional parts.

Well, I'm going to have to stop work while I'm here, at least the armor is for sure now. Too many people in the barracks screwing it up for everyone else by having illegal drugs and alchohol has put this place on lockdown. So we are pretty much going back to Basic training room standards (I never had a room in basic) but thats pretty self explanitory. Pretty much, I can't have alot of crap laying around although neat and organized. I was told that I have to get the box out of here, so I'm having to ship my armor home this weekend :/

As for the AR and helmet? I'm not too sure just yet. I just cleaned out my personal locker which I had kept everything in (tools, parts, etc) and packed everything back in their boxes assuming that I may have to ship them back home as well. IDK just yet on that. Can't do much if I don't get my tool sent back from Dremel either, which I am starting to worry their screwing me over...

So yea..Kinda sucks

Say it ain't so.

Too bad about the lockdown. Still, if you keep the helmet and AR handy it means you'll get a chance to focus on the two parts that folks will pay the most attention to.

Yea, I really want to at least hold onto the helmet, since it's close to completion, relatively speaking. The AR I could get alot of it done, but aside from actually installing the electronics, I still have to develop the removable rear piece that I cut out for access. I have some ideas, but some edge clean up is still required. Other than that, I just need to find a good piece of firm clear plastic to put the ammo counter graphic behind and install everything, clean the seam line where it all meets, attach the trigger and finish dremeling out the mag well so I can get that going.

Some good news, I just recieved my dremel tool back from the company. It's fixed and ready to go! Good thing I still had the warrenty on it!

But I won't know just yet until about next week. The cadre' haven't finalized the final SOP yet, so I'll have to wait until our first real room inspection under those circumstances to clarify what I can keep.

Alright

Well in my drugged up stuper, I've managed to get all my crap to "SOP Standards," whatever the hell that means. Anyhoo, I was able to move my helmet, AR and my Reach legendary box all under my bed and out of site.

So I should be able to get more work done on the helmet, maybe the AR cause of the foremention issue. Really want to get the helmet ready before I leave..

Woke up a bit late today, but I decided to go out and do a bit more work on the helmet. The only thing really preventing me from painting is just finishing the vent mods, which I made some headway on today (along with several cutting disks..)

Still rough right now, as I haven't taken sanding files to it just yet, which I'm going to do right now. I'm debating on either rounding the sections that remain, or adding on top of it to give it a rounded tube look, but I'll see..

Got started on filling in the other side, so just gotta repeat it over there. Other than that, just minor filling around the helmet. I'm going to try and order a motorcyle helmet liner as well in the near future..

Alright! Got a 4 day weekend to do nothing but sleep, play halo and work on this sucker. I'm hoping to get the other vent ready just like the current one, and then I can start focusing on getting ready for paint!

I'm going to really work the vents to make them more "tubish" and "pop" out more. I'm debating if I'm going to back-fill the vents or not, but I may not to allow some sort of air-flow.

Another thing that I've decided about is getting a motorcycle helmet liner vs. using the ACH pads, as I can't seem to find all but one single ACH pad for sale, and they sell them online for $100+, where as, I can get a motorcycle helmet liner for roughly $20. My only problem is that I need to determine the right size I need....

For mine I just used a bit of upholstery foam and automotive headliner fabric. That way I could shape them to fit however I liked using just a pair of scissors and then install everything with Zap-A-Gap.

If you're determined to go with a commercially-available solution, check out Condor helmet pads. They're very similar to your issued ACH pads and you can get a full set for around $15. I've got a couple sets and plan to use them in my ODST helmets. I picked mine up from Barre Army Navy online store.

Yes it does! Just amazed at how expensive the ACH pads are. The single large donut pad costs $10 alone here on post. It's rediculous. Hmm..I'm debating now that I think about it. The thing about the MC helmet is that the shape is perfect for a motorcyle helmet liner. I currently have one full ACH pad set and then I can get these. I "placed" the pads in the helmet and surely it will work but just need ALOT of them due to the size of the helmet.

I too as well have one of Sean Bradley's ODST helmets sitting at home atm, and wondering if I should just save these pads for that like you are.

Need to find some sticky back velcro pads as well.....Gonna think on it, but yet, I'll definatly be getting a set there one way or another. Thanks!

As for todays work (since I'm posting anyways..) Got some more clean up done and discovered some more air holes that need to be filled. I've started grinding down and prepping the other vent. I've figured out how I'm going to go about finishing the vent details off.

Along with that, the rectangular detail where the visor touches on the nose portion is alot cleaner now, and I grinded it down to the line where it needs to be. One last thing I need to do is get the holes drilled for the lights on the sides, so that'll be my reference point for after I paint this sucker.

Here's some pics after tonight. Dosnt look like much, but this has been a long process. Haven't finished this side just yet due to losing sunlight.

You can see where I'm going with as far as the "detailing," but still needs alot of clean up, smoothing and primer. The lack of a solid color really makes it look worse than it actually is...

Cleaned up section here as well, not much else going on.

I'd say this vent is about 90% done at the moment. It's pretty much done being shaped to where I want it, but as you can see from the pics, I still need to clean the ends. Going to try some different techniques to smooth it all out..

I think that overall it's looking pretty good, by no means perfect though
