Gonk Droid - Printer Stand

I have a color laser printer that's big, bulky and used infrequently. I still need access to it, but would like it to be a little less prominent in my work area.

Solution, make a gonk droid that:
  1. Storage for paper and printer supplies
  2. Hiding place for the printer
  3. End-table for when sitting on the office couch with a drink or snack
I don't think this is a sophisticated build, more of getting the details right. Here's the plan:

Materials acquisition --plastic tubs that fit the printer, hinges for getting to the inside of the unit, and downspout extenders for covering the legs.

Ah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! This is great!

I used to fix printers for a living, it would have made my day to find something like this... :)

This is a fabulous idea!

Thanks, I'm pretty jazzed to keep moving forward.

Pieces cut for the internal structure and the feet:

More progress, added detail to the feet and got them painted:

and a quick look to see what it looks like with the tubs on top (thanks to my daughter for modeling)

Great start!… going to do my own soon…
Get going, it's a fun project.

On the progress side, good news/bad news...

Created a bezel piece to fit between the two halves of the storage container

Assembled everything and tested it with the printer. I mis-measured, the printer is to big to fit inside the joined body of the storage containers (sorry no pics).

But, when a door closes, go through a window...

Scratch built a new body with foam core and insulation foam (plus odds and ends)
