Hello everyone! Welcome to my first RPF prop build! I am currently putting together my Star Wars room and after some careful consideration decided to build a Gonk droid to really up the Star Wars factor. I am about to make a run to a hardware store for some odds and ends but most of this build will be made from found objects. I know my bins aren't screen accurate, but I figured with the variety of power droids in the galaxy, there is a little creative wiggle room.

The bins:

UPDATE! I found some 2” pvc pipe caps to serve as some side decorations. I drilled small holes for exposed wires to connect the two and placed some rubber plumbing washers over them to make the fit more convincing. I couldn’t decide on a color in store but I went with a stone-ish brown for the top coat. I gave the totes one more coat of black for an undercoat and will be sanding the top coat to reveal the black for weathering.

Let me know what you think of the brownish color as a top coat for the whole droid, it has black underneath. I will be sanding it down to reveal black after it’s completely dry.

Zoomed out view of the side.

I also secured some vinyl dry vent hosing for the legs and they are currently drying with their first coat of flat black applied!

I don’t mean to double post but I’ve made some serious progress! Here are a couple photos of my weathering progress. I was going for a beat up Tatooine power unit.
