Congrats! :thumbsup

So... are you in the "Cool, my head fits!" camp, or the "#@%&! I hope that doesn't leave a scar!" camp? :p

Nice score, whats the deal with the paintup?

I am really not sure. I have never seen this version of the Factory X Helmet before. The person I got if from won it, and it was already weathered like that.

I have a big melon but I am not that tall. The Helmet is freakin huge in size itself. if fits but it doesn't seem to for my entire body. I look like Frodo Baggins trying to look like Russel Crow.

I had it on a payment plan for three months then it took about a month to get here...customs.

Yeah, the paint is a bit odd as the one on the movie was not quite chrome but there certainly was no paint on it. It was more of a brushed metal look.

Yeah I have seen the brushed look as well from time to time on ebay. That is why this piece caught my eye. It has the tag in the helmet and the trade mark plate in the front. I know all of this can be faked but it is a different piece than what is commonly out there.

Anyone see one like this before?

Are you suggesting that this is an official Factory X variant?

I don't recall Factory X offering any like this. I figured it was a standard Factory X repainted by the original owner.

That is what I am trying to figure out myself. I have only seen ones like this:

But even those don't match what Factory X showed in their advertisements of this helmet when they first came out:

I personally would love the helmet to look more like the add than either one of them. Not being a skilled hobbiest I guess I am stuck. Unless someone here will be up to the task at a later date.

I'm with you. The helmet in the ad looks best. Too often the case! :lol

Hang around here long enough and who knows? You might develop the skills to put the helmet in the ad to shame. :)

I've been looking for a factory x helm to go with my arena costume, that one is different for sure, cool score.

What you're seeing here is rust, not a variant.

The guys at Factory-X wanted this helmet to be as "authentic" as a real period helmet, and so decided to have these made in high carbon steel with no coating. This type of helmet needs to be oiled, and not really touched.

Sadly, as these helmets were meant for the collector market, and not to be displayed in a climate controlled museum exhibit, they ended up oxidizing.

The finish could probably be restored with some light sanding and polishing.

I just recieved this from the seller after I asked for a little history on the helmet.

"I used to work for Granada studios here in the UK and as such i had a lot of contacts in the industry.Stan Winston studios made a replica 7.5 foot predator which i used to have stood in my front room but some friends and family didnt like it as it freaked them out so a swapped it for a Star wars Sandtrooper full outfit...armour backpack guns microbinoculars binder cuffs neon sign etc the works basicaly. The dealer also threw in some helmets one of which is yours. He did say that your helmet was only produced on a limited run and as such is very collectable. The reason i sold it and the others was because al my collection is either horror or Star Wars related and i wasnt going to go into collecting helmets and armour though i thought it was a really cool display item. Not much more history other than that i am afraid. "

Since the dealer said it was a very limited run:

"The dealer also threw in some helmets one of which is yours. He did say that your helmet was only produced on a limited run...."

Do you think that a chemical was put on it to generate the oxidation in that type of pattern?
