Ginger Snaps - 1:6 scale Sculpts

Wow, I really didn't know what to expect seeing the early pics, but this is turning out great. Love the detail in the fur on the wolf.

Yeah... I have a habit of showing the whole process... even the parts that no professional would ever show. Most sculptors are faster than me, which kinda means my crappy beginnings stay in people's minds longer.

With this round I finally found what I wanted and what the other versions lacked - a good pose and good base and easy to work with... well... at least better than it was.

Glad the fur is okay. It's not at all accurate to the look of the wolves in the movies, as those were long-haired wolves... but I kinda like what I'm doing so it's going to be "inspired by" rather than accurate, which means I can basically be a little more free in what I'm doing, which will especially be visible when I get more progress going on the girls. Man... been working on these for so long... I really need to see them finished... so I'll try to work more on them to get them ready.

Buying some new materials as well that'll help me get better and work faster... so all is improving. Thanks for the kind words, btw. :)

More progress. Finally got tail!

This has come a long way since I last checked in. Its looking great! Sorry I haven't replied yet to your crits on the clubhouse by the way but I'm waiting to get some pictures before I write any more in there. Looking forward to seeing this finished :thumbsup

Steve.

Ah... regarding the Hicks sculpt? Yeah... he's a tough one to sculpt, or so I've heard. Though, you did one hell of a 1:1 version, so I'm sure you can nail the sixth scale as well! :thumbsup

And thanks for the comments on my sculpt. Basically what is missing now is the very last fur, and then the completion of the paws and claws... and the wolf is pretty much finished. Though, it may take a while to get the energy back to finish it.

Very little progress at all.

Though... pretty much got the re-boot girls working... nearly up to the point where I had to start over last time. Made some changes as well.

Well, look at it this way...if youre not happy with what you have right now you can at LEAST save the sculpt and rename it "Little Alien Abductors in Drag"
cant wait to see what you some up with

Sorry for the lack of updates. Have been rather negligent of this sculpt as of late, working more on sculpting the face on my Superman kit (just can't get it right) and working on a conversion of an old Spider-Man kit into Venom as well as going back to the idea I started before it was turned into a Ginger Snaps sculpt - a grown up Wednesday Addams, Christina Ricci style. Yeah... you can say I've gone full circle... or more likely back-tracked as this image in my head just wouldn't go away... so my fingers started working and am coming closer to something worth showing. With my track-record of never really finishing... I won't post much until I've at least finished the head... but the body is coming along nicely and I'm looking forward to showing it off. Personally I really like how it's coming along... and how working on her makes me want to work on all these other sculpts as well and getting them finished.

I got the time... just need the drive and energy... but until then... some work done:

The wolf has been in my attention span these days... not doing much, but trying to do a little fur at a time. Having covered most of his underside, I've started working my way down his legs. Cut off the raised area on the back as it was too distracting from the movie look where it was more straight across rather than raised - I know I'm not exactly going for the screen look, but it just felt wrong as it was. Will concentrate on the underside and legs before moving on to the back and head for the final detailing.

Though... having no place to actually bake the thing is really starting to bug me as it is too big to go into the mini oven I have without getting charred in certain areas getting too close to the heating elements... so I have to find a way...

Anyway... along with the wolf, I'm working on other projects as well... here's a small update on those as well. Cheers.

Incidentally... this is how the first attempt at the Wednesday Addams sculpt looked, which was later turned into Ginger but then eventually discarded. Still got the old (insanely heavy) clay underfigure, which the sculpey reacted badly to and dried up, ruining all my work. Oh well... you live and learn. Just interesting to see the initial concept and then the new version being made... and how I went back to an old idea... even before finishing the Ginger Snaps girls. Hmm. I promise... I will soon.

I do apologize for once again not having anything Ginger Snaps to update... so to ease the pain... here's a little humor (Wednesday Addams w Venom head).
