Ginger Snaps - 1:6 scale Sculpts

Have just been re-watching the Ginger Snaps werewolf-teen-flick-trilogy and just thought it could be sweet to do a figure from one of these... probably from the last movie. Bear with me, as this may take a while to get going... but will definitely try to work a bit faster with this one than with the Mal sculpt... promise.

Still thinking about what it should be... but I can assure that there's more to come.

(had planned a Wednesday Addams sculpt first... but I really think I'd be switching that one to this project instead and then possible do that one later.)

:thumbsup

Will get a picture posted soon... wish I had a scanner, 'cause then I could just do a quick drawing to show you of how I imagine the look of the figure(s). May do both Brigitte and Ginger... and possibly a werewolf as well. BIG PLANS. :eek

EDIT: And I call myself a fan... shudder... I couldn't even spell Brigitte's name right. .)

Oh... guess not many people know about these movies... hey... they got werewolves. :thumbsup

This is the initial lump of clay from the other project I had started. Have worked some more on it since. :)

hot damn. Can't wait to see this...I know Karen Walton (the chick who wrote the screenplay) and I know she'd be stoked to see this.

Well, those were some kick-ass movies and my favorites in the Werewolf genre. :thumbsup

This is pretty much what I'm planning... just so that you can get an idea of what I'm going for... only one werewolf on her left and then her sister on her right - her arms should be a bit lower, though. :)

The main figure is really taking shape... doing it in regular clay as much as possible, as I don't have much Super Sculpey left at the moment. Hope to get to show you some new progress pictures soon. Really hope I'll get as lucky with the likeness as I was with the Mal Reynolds figure. :)

Looking forward to this. When you are sculpting Ginger's face, try cross-referencing with the the first movie, which is more brightly lit. If I remember, the girls spend a lot of times hooded in Snaps Back, and it is much more darly lit.

I would LOVE a Ginger Snaps diorame with Ginger, Brigette & the Wolf.

My personal preference would have been from the first movie, where Ginger is at the party and is beginning to change, that would be awesome. Snaps Back is my least favourite of the triliogy, 'cos it really just rehashes the first, though it it beautifully shot.

The Trio set will predominantly be from Ginger Snaps Back... but will probably do a first movie version Ginger at a later time, though, am currently undecided as to which version I'd like to do.

Though... I may in fact cheat a little and perhaps do the first movie style make-up on the trio-set Ginger and a second movie style make-up for Brigitte... just for fun. :lol Though... no matter what I will most likely do a regular face and a "transformed" face for the figures.

Big plans... :thumbsup

EDIT: Same reason as the edit further up. :unsure

:lol

A little progress - not much... but a little.

Added a lot of clay from the waist down... and some at the front and back of the torso... tried to bend it into the desired shape, but as the clay hardens it gets more difficult to shape... so gotta decide the final pose soon. :thumbsup

Also made the "skull" part of the face... will probably start working on her face soon.

Still thinking about doing the cloaked and hooded versions from the third movie... and then possibly do a sexy Ginger from the first movie later - I got lots of time... so that's not a problem. :lol

I think the cloaked versions will stand out and 'identify' the piece more, particularly if you are going to do Briget as well. Emily Perkins has a very distinctive face (kind of hollow cheekbones) so It will be really interesting to see how you capture that likeness. I think Ginger will be easier, she has a very oval face and full lips, lots of hair..and then there's the bosom :lol

Yup... these are going to be fun to capture... and with the tiny amount I learned from the Mal figure I think I'm better suited to do these than I was when starting with Mal... so... I'm progressing.

I have now made my decision - they will be in top coat and Ginger will have the hood up... yup... suitable for the winter setting of the movie. :thumbsup

Man... can't wait to get started on the wolf as well... that's gonna be sweet to try my strength with... all that sculpted hair... woohoo. :lol
